New Asst HC(Def) - David Turner

Wow, you're more delusional than I thought. You ever heard the expression, "can't make chicken salad out of chicken öööö"? And you are seriously saying Collins' 2 years at Temple is why they aren't good now? That's about as big of a reach as I have ever seen. I guess CPJ is the reason we suck now by the same token.
Ok, how good is Mississippi State and UF after he left? Not great. We wouldn’t suck had we kept CPJ because he could sure make some damn good chicken salad with the “chicken öööö” we had.

A lot to unpack here. For starters, the press conferences, what he says to the media and fans and what he says to his team are two totally different things. It's been reported in other places that he is much more candid off the record but to the media all he is going to do is lift his players up and talk the program up. Does he do that to a fault? Probably. That has nothing to do with what he is doing to fix the problems or what he sees as problem areas with our team though. If you are going solely off what he says to the media and taking that as how he is internally coaching the team then sadly you are way off. And nobody is attacking people with passion for GT. Most everybody here has that or they wouldn't be wasting their time on a damn GT message board. People here are attacking other people that are constantly negative to the coaches, staff, players, etc. Being that way does absolutely no good. If you have the opinion that he sucks and will never turn it around or be a good HC anywhere. Guess what? He's still our coach right now and constantly bashing him won't do a bit of good, so maybe use that energy to support the team instead. It would be in everybody's best interest if he DID turn it around and turn out to be a good coach, because I can promise you that will be the quickest path for GT football to be relevant again. There is no cure-all hire that can be made and make everything sunshine and rainbows immediately, especially at a place like GT. If he doesn't turn things around, guess what? I along with most everybody here will be on board with cutting him loose and finding somebody else. That doesn't mean we can't support him now while he's still our coach though. And what if he does finally turn the corner this year? Are all the folks that have been bashing him going to admit they were wrong or start supporting him? Doubtful. And that's one of the biggest problems with our fan base. They pick favorites and if it's not their favorite, they don't support them. I support whoever is leading GT, top to bottom as well as all the student athletes.
You are a StinGTalk treasure.

Not everyone understands the subtle yet significant difference between supporting the Program and the Student Athletes within it and supporting the coaching staff.

It is not necessary to turn your back on the program because there is something about it not to your liking. If everybody did that, the only people left would be the sheep.

Our program actually needs the pissed-off and fed-up fans to remain close to the program to help bring about the necessary changes.

I really question the loyalty of those who use their support as leverage.

It’s just not a lie. We didn’t miss that much in our defense, and like I said, usually a guy is out for a week or two in camp and then they return, most likely for the rest of the season.
This may have been your experience but it 100% was not the case at Georgia Tech. I have stated to you twice now, we had numerous guys miss time, most more than once.

Again you are contradicting your own arguments. So they were good when he was there because they already had good players, etc. But now they are bad after he left because he stunk the joint up? There is absolutely nothing to base this claim on since both continue to get good players. If anything, it says that he was good at coaching the good players and his predecessors were not. You are trying way too hard dude. Here's a word of advice. When 99% of people disagree with you on something, you are probably the one that's wrong.

And yeah CPJ could do a lot with less, because he was running the option. He would not be able to do the same running a more traditional offense. He also left, so we didn't make that decision, he did.

Sure, we had some guys miss time, but the guys I’m mainly talking about (aka the older guys like Juanyeh and Tariq) didn’t miss much time and played a full or close to full season last year.

Yes, that’s what I’m saying. They players that were starting were usually the guys that weren’t his, and were under good coaching. The guys there no are guys that were his, and we’re not under good coaching. That’s my point, what is so hard to understand about that?

And CPJ could do a lot, just solely coaching. Guys that weren’t even a part of a normal TO scheme we’re still getting better. The TO did help with the guys we had, but CPJ was a great developer nonetheless.

Did you know that Tariq also had surgery on both his wrists that offseason, could not sweat for nearly the entire summer while he was rehabbing, and showed up to camp about 25lbs over his normal playing weight? And we STILL didn't have anybody better to replace him (again back to lack of talented players). And while they didn't miss any games that I recall, both missed practice time to COVID I know. But yet again you are moving the goal posts. We were talking about the defense not progressing in year 2 because of COVID. It's hard to make much progress when you are in year 2 of a transition and have limited time with guys and have multiple guys missing time, yet now you MOVE THE GOALPOSTS again to "I'm mainly talking about guys like Juanyeh and Tariq." They don't make up the whole defense.

You can keep saying I’m moving the goalposts all you want, that’s what the original talking post was about before you chimed in a day late. Sure he had surgery, but how many guys get surgery and come back just as good? Most of them. There are ways you can work and train yourself while rehabbing. Clearly Tariq didn’t do any walkthroughs and watch any film because he seems to be out of place half the time.

I don’t see the purpose in continuing to engage that guy.

Why are y’all ganging up on a 21 year old kid?

That’s what I’m seeing from UF fans on Twitter too. Always good to see that reaction.
I’m wondering if he just never got his shot to be DC. We may find out. Anyway, I was glad to hear good commentary instead of the “we’re glad you took him off our hands” which we seem to get way too often.
