Announcing game times just a few days ahead makes it really really hard to invite new fans. They gotta keep 11 am-12 am free in their schedules. Wish the colleges would stand up to their reptilian paymasters.
 
I saw this too - I remember a few years ago when they changed their security policies to make people go only through their specific gate and we missed kickoff. The next game after the uproar from the fans / alumni everything changed back.

I have a feeling the same thing will happen here after people again miss kickoff and complain to the GTAA

I don't think the gate fiasco was due to security concerns, I believe it was because a new vendor was brought in to work the gates. I hope you're right but not optimistic.

My aunt used to volunteer as the the gate ambassador or whatever they are called by 101, and she told me the new vendor was given directions to only allow people to go in their designated gates. I think this year they didn't ask for her back like that one year with the fiasco. I have a feeling they will ask for the volunteers back again because us alumni are stubborn and don't like change.

GT is at the mercy of the networks regarding game times. Literally every team in the country has to deal with the same "problem" of not knowing kick times until a week or two out.
 
I feel like I actually need to point out for a few people that even polymer guns have metal slides and barrels. Either that or my sarcasm game meter is broken.

Wanding isn't super effective. I've carried an all metal Smith 9mm into Turner Field. Believe it or not, the firearm didn't attack anyone, nor did I feel a greater propensity to start a fight.

The so called campus carry law is a crappy piece of legislation with a lot of "gotcha's" for those wishing to protect themselves on campus.

FWIW I doubt the new procedures have much impact on attendance, especially if our offense stays on fire.

You're forgetting about ceramic Glock pistols. Completely undetectable by metal detectors.

Not sure what you guys are talking about. When was the last time GT had a non-noon home kick that wasn't announced far in advance? 12:30 still counts as noon.
 
Think about it. How many 'gate's are there at BDS? Then how many 'wanders' at each gate? Let's say there are 50 wanders. Each wander can do one person every 10 secs. Let's say a big game where there are 50000 in attendance. Each wander will be wanding for nearly three hours!
 
It wasn't so bad for me. Line was only about 8 deep and was going quickly since they seemed really staffed up. I went in right after the band ended their performance at the steps, maybe it got worse closer to gametime?
 
It was a complete cluster frig at the north endzone gates. Took half an hour to get in. Missed the first 5 minutes of the 1st.
 
No line to speak of at noon at gate 9. Wanding was cursory at best.
