New Coaches

unless that was part of the deal to get him there in the first place
Which from all reports, his son is the HC in waiting. Bill isn’t going back to the NFL. He’ll coach at UNC for 3 years and call it a day.

In the era of the Portal, UNC with enough NIL $$$ can easily elevate from an average 7-8 win team to 9-10 in the ACC. Resources are not the problem.

UNC sucks and is going to get their ass kicked. Plus, GT is the largest school in the ACC now, by enrollment. öööö UNC. Stop touching yourself, Kent.

We need to sign them up though. The new alumni are in and out via the internet pretty fast.

Everyone can elevate. Tech is finally coming on. If alumni give $70M per year, look out. Not going to happen however.
Unc has had the second coming for 35 years. Belgicheck is good but he will get frustrated with limited hours, etc. I think he will put up with college football for his son’s sake. Not clear really want happens with them.

The student sections are packed. The fan base is going to organically grow. The days of GT having an enrollment of 12k is long past. Counting graduate students, GT is the largest university in the state of Georgia with a total enrollment of 53k fall 2024.

Southern held Coastal Carolina to 6 points and held James Madison to 14 (seems like there was someone gave up a lot to them last year .... )
But they also gave up 47 to Old Dominion and 56 to Boise in Statesboro.
Eubanks was a solid LB in college. Played at Southern and played for Southern against GT, IIRC.

Yeah, but that’s kind of a bullshit number. Still only like ~19k undergrads, which is all that really counts for football fan growth. Grad students who did undergrad elsewhere (especially all those online people) don’t tend to be that into sports.

But how many go-to games. Would be great if we could mostly pack Bobby dodd every Sat

When we were Freshman we were told to look to the left and to the right, one of you is not going to make it. And we got Rat caps and were taught the traditions. My daughter was in Ramblin Reck Club, are y’all reaching out to the the 20,000 on line students???

A degree is a degree. Enrollment is enrollment. Some of the undergrads are from other countries. Some of the grad students are. Some aren't. Regardless, enrollment is growing and the student sections have been as packed as they have ever been the last several seasons.

Saying that GT should rely on students to full seats kinda proves the point that tickets are not a highly desirable product in the city of Atlanta. Students don't pay. When you have alumni and side-walk fans paying seat licence fees plus high ticket prices and can fill an 80k stadium easily, that's a much better position than hoping students can fill empty seats.
Some defeatist thinking ITT

Wrong, asshole, I am saying that we have more students than ever in the stands and that will translate into more ST holders in 10-15 years.

Many alumni won't stay in Atlanta after graduating, a much higher % than for most ("football") schools will leave the city.

I don't think anyone is saying that 100% of the students in the stands now are going to be season ticket holders when they get out. The point is that students in the stands now are more likely to be there in 10-15 years than some rando UofM grad who just happened to move to the area. If only 5% of the student section each season becomes a new season ticket holder in 10 years, you're better off getting 5% of 3,000 than 5% of 150.

Why do you want to shut down the football program?
I don't. I think we can get a bigger local market. I think that opportunity exceeds the potential offered by alumni. I believe that bc if you're an alumnus, then you have already made the choice of whether to be a fan and get tickets. I mean, of course you market to them, but I don't believe that route maximizes the value of the program.
