Next head coach

I know this is a joke but honestly I'd take him right now. I think Collins needs to work through some things at the Saban Coach Rehabilitation School. We all fail in life and its hard. Gailey was a great recruiter and ran a tight ship. He just needed a few more coaches around him and to be less conservative on some play calls.

One personal Gailey story. When I was 12 years old my dad took me to see a Tech football practice. After practice I wanted coach to sign my autograph football. When we got to him he was swarmed by reporters so we stood behind them a waited patiently. Before he answered the reporters first question he saw us and interrupted them and said "Excuse me I need to see this young man for a moment". He then came up to us to speak to us and sign my football. We probably talked for 4-6 minutes. Much longer than he needed to but the wanted to make sure that we were seen. He then told one of his assistance to get our names and address to send us some Tech merch. Sure enough a week later we got a package in the mail with some free Tech merch. I will never for get that. Gailey is a good man and I am sure Collins is too. That doesn't always make you a great football coach but moments like that stick with you.
 
Is there a coach anywhere who has been doing it a very long time and is highly respected but hasn't gotten a HC shot yet and has an affinity for us?

Sam Pittman is working out pretty good for Arkansas. He did not grow up there but he has said it was one of his dream jobs, grew up in a state next door.
 
Chaney passed through Arkansas too. These guys get around. He deserves consideration for sure.

As far as talking about this before the body is cold o to speak, any successful organization does succession planning long before it is needed if they want to last more than one generation.
 
Gailey is a Nice Guy I think he could turn this mess around although it would be like 02' for a season or 2 Maybe not tho with the tranfser portal

Gailey is a class act. Ask any coach that coached under him or against him, you'll find nothing but great things to say about him. He just couldn't beat Georgia, and that was his undoing.

Didn’t he really only have maybe 2 good recruiting classes ? I’m with you I’d take him now also , I do remember that we had Sean renfree coming here until paul got the job
 
At this point give me an elite coordinator who wants to run offense, bring back Tenuta for D, and above all coaches that have a proven track record of actually coaching guys up.
 
I've met Gailey. He's a decent man in the classic sense of the world.
Met O'Leary.
I've known PJ a long time. I got along with him great. Terrific sense of humor. And does a tremendous amount of stuff without calling attention to himself.
Haven't met Collins. But the more I find out, the more I am convinced he is a used car salesman.

But how old is Gailey now? It's been 15 years since he last coached at Tech. He's no spring chicken anymore.

70. Honestly, I think there are going to be some interesting and solid candidates if a change has to be made this year. Pulling these old names out is silly.
