Official ACC Network Launch Day Thread

What the ACCN has taught me so far:

Duke basketball highlights against UNC

North Carolina soccer

Deion Sanders was the highlight of ACC
football until Clemson as of late.

Spectrum Update

Two items:

First, I was informed that if you were a customer of Time Warner Cable and were absorbed into Charter after the merger you have to be on a Spectrum plan and not an old TWC plan in order to get The ACC Network. It doesn't matter if your area has the Channel if you are on an old account.

Second, I reconfirmed that only a handful of States have The ACC Network now and everyone else will get it on 9/6. However, the woman I spoke with said they have been swamped since the channel launch last night with angry calls of people who thought the launch was national. It seems having the defending national champ playing on a Thursday is quite the draw nationally and that they have been tracking complaints nonstop. Who knows if it makes a difference and they change the national roll out date to earlier than 9/6, but she said the call volume isn't being ignored.

It is nice to know that they are getting a lot of feedback and that they are apparently trying to react to it. Doesn't seem that Comcast is doing the same.

Comcast and AT&T 2 worst companies I know of and have been for many years. I know people who worked for AT&T and left because they were so bad. Said they had no idea what they were doing.

2009 ACC Championship game airing right now

What a night. Oranges stuffed in my socks ready for the W.

Fun fact: in between 1991 and Clemson's current Championship run starting in 2015, their only ACC Championship was in 2011 (a year they lost at Grant Field).

Here in the Raleigh area we are told by Spectrum we will get the network September 6, if you have the “premium” package.

Update on Disney & DISH (sling TV also) ACCN is tied to these negotiations

Disney has started advising Dish subscribers of a looming contract deadline with FX and National Geographic, which could go dark on the satellite TV provider. The two companies previously had negotiated past a contract deadline in July, citing progress in the talks as the signals remained active on the satellite system. The current deadline is 9 PM PT on Tuesday.

Dish chairman Charlie Ergen has expressed pessimism in his recent remarks, though that would fit a pattern where he has previously said other programmers would be permanently unplugged, only to have a deal materialize.

The ACCN has had 2 years to prepare for this and IMO they have failed miserably. The 1st game of the season starts in 2 freaking days and none of the main cable companies are on board yet.

Brace yourself for whining:

The ACC Network is completely and utterly unavailable in Canada. I haz a sad.

Getting ripped off by TDS in Knoxville. It has taken 4 calls for them to finally tell me I have to upgrade to their highest channel package to get the ACCN. Adds another $26 a month to my bill, but I will cancel it as soon as the last potentially interesting football game airs on it. Of course they wouldn't add a sports channel to their sports tier package, which is only $10 a month extra.

Cancel TDS. Go with YouTubeTV for a month. After a month, TDS will send you excellent preselected "clawback" offers that will slice your previous bill by 1/3 to 1/2.

Or just leave with no intention of returning, which is what i did. I'll probably take their offer of 1 GIG service for 49/month for 2 years, but no need for the TV packages.
