Official Early Signing Day Fax Thread

I’m surprised by this. I’m sure Collins has his own ideas about the type of players he wants and I’m sure there are commitments that don’t fit that. I know we would want to honor all the commitments, but surely you could envision a conversation along the lines of “recruit, we are honoring your commitment with a football scholarship if you still want to come to GT. However, in the new scheme you are going to struggle for playing time, though you will certainly be afforded every opportunity to earn it.” Maybe that didn’t happen, which is fine, and Collins simply kept recruiting those guys from a brand/culture perspective with the intent to sort out the where they fit later.

Maybe Collins needs to adjust his system to fit the players he has not the players people wish he had. Why on earth would you tell a recruit "you are going to struggle for playing time"? Right now this team loaded with 5* recruits is just hype; maybe it will happen and maybe not. There are some good players in this class and some if not most of them will end up being starters regardless of what GT is able to recruit in the coming years.

Here's to hoping that bravejason and NTNPBGCollins stay as far away from our recruits as possible.

Yates is 6'1''. You clearly haven't watched this kid play. In the highest classification in the state against an opponent ranked in the top 10 nationally he played lights out. He's a team player unlike Justin Fields who is more like the "Me" generation of entitlement. We will find some contributors in this class and CC will start putting together his own classes from scratch next year. Yates will push for playing time as a true frosh.
Is he really 6'1"? I saw him listed at 5'10"

Sorry, but now that we have a new regime in place I want QBs more talented than guys like Yates, in the last 6 years GA HS FB has put out can't-miss prospects like DeShaun Watson, Fromm, Fields, Trevor Lawrence, Yates' arm talent isn't in the same conversation as those kinda players

Just because he wins a State Title vs High Schoolers, doesn't make him a P5 QB at 5-10ish(he's nowhere close to 6-1)

Once upon a time in Ga, 31 yrs ago give or take, the 2 top HS QBs were up for grabs and GT got 1, one was Charlie Ward, Heisman winner FSU, the other was Shawn Jones, we got him and won a MNC

We have gotten top level QBs from GA HS FB, but not anymore, if we did it in the past we can do it again

I'm at the point where I'm tired of GT FB being a P5 sanctuary school, by that I mean, some of guys we give schollies to, if it weren't for GT they wouldn't be playing for any P5 school, instead they'd be playing at Appy St, or UAB, that's the kind of QB that I think Yates is, a G5 guy rather than a legit P5 guy

Since GT has strong academics, did our peers also want Yates at QB-----ND, Stanford, Dook, Northwestern, Michigan, UVa, Boston College, Penn St, what other P5 program wanted Yates at QB

It's almost like TPR is haunting our recruiting from retirement, we've gotta flush the toxic recruiting from the GT system as soon as possible

We never told TPR to adjust his system, ever

So why tell Coach G to adjust his system?

You know how stats get assimilated. They are usually contradictory across different publications. Doesn't really matter he's going to be a star for us IMO.

JT5 was listed as a 5'11'. But when JWilly and I met him at rocky mountain pizza, he was my height, which is 5'8''

Watching the signing day show, it's pretty clear which guys CGC wanted and which ones he didn't. My only worry is that the emphasis he places on "length." I'm not sure that's a mold that highlights our best talent.

What a crock of shit! Folks were yammering for CPJ to adjust his system from Day 1. More short yardage passing, diamond formation, etc. Such revisionist history.

I agree with some of what you say but your delivery is douchey.

CGC has been on the job for 3 weeks, chill! So let's get this straight, you would rather him sign 5 or so guys this year because you think we need to "flush our toxic recruiting" ? That sounds idiotic! CGC is a good recruiter but he can't get 15-20 guys to flip from now until February.

It is like the assholes have come out of the woodwork with the new hire.

I think it's funny that people are talking about loosing a "commit" to USC (Briton Allen). The kid committed to us and subsequently visited USC so under CPJ's verbiage he wasn't even really committed. I'm guessing this is why he even committed to us in the first place after CPJ announced his retirement. It was actually a pretty smart move for the kid as he had nothing to loose by "committing" to us.

The last QB we had that was too small and untalented, yet won a state title nearly beat UGA every year he was a starter and won the Orange Bowl. Soooo I’ll take more guys like that. I understand there are some fans of GT that want to be able to talk to their retarded friends on Sunday about who from GT is in the NFL because that is how these backwoods asshats measure success in life, but I don’t really care about that. I don’t think I’m alone. We saw what happened to Satterfield when he just “cut ties” with recruits that didn’t fit his system. HS coaches cut ties with him. It’s a dumb move based on nothing more than guesswork.

Just what are your qualifications to judge any recruit other that reading recruiting sites and message boards?
