If you make the first down you might find yourself in a situation where you need to take the timeout before you want to j guess is what I’m getting at. I’m OK with passing there out of under center.

I would’ve been OK with a run or a Playaction rollout type play. We run the fade a lot for some reason.

Yeah, I mean there's always the chance of screwy things happening but I'd have much rather ran something that was more likely to give us more cracks at it. Seemed very premature to run the "safe" play and settle for the FG.

Just tuned in when Gibson had the late hit. Was impressed with the play calls to end the half, even though the execution wasn't there.

Let’s see how this white boy does at qb. If he can somehow turn this öööö show into a win, give him the job.
Much needed fire in him. He is nowhere Sims equal athletically but he plays 1000 times harder. Can we take the brain from one and put it in the other? Isn’t this GT, we can do this?

Gibson somehow is better in the pocket than Sims. But obviously we miss that athleticism on the scramble which has essentially been our entire offense for 3 years.

He’s winning the crowd tho. I’m not without hope for this second half.

Weak arm but at least he sees öööö coming.

I think keeping the demands low on the backup QB is what we were going for. Save the timeout in case he got sacked on the pass as well. So it wasn’t “in the pocket” so to speak.

It's "in the pocket" in the sense that you have it to use in those situations. You can spike it or get to the line quickly if there's a first down inbounds. The timeout is still there.

I get that Gibson is the backup, but he's a fourth year college player so I think you have to trust that he has a basic understanding of how to navigate a 2-minute drill.

Gibson has better footwork and QB knowledge but isn’t trusting himself fully. Sims is far superior in every athletic aspect football requires.
