Official Gasparilla Bowl/AI Masterpieces Thread

From a fans standpoint, does it really matter which level bowl we go to? I guess it might effect the experience for the players but all the talk about tier 1 and tier 2 is kind of pointless to me. If I understand correctly the payouts are evenly split between all teams so we get same amount of money regardless.

I just want an interesting opponent and a drivable location. I like Tampa vs ucf better than Rutgers in New York or playing Troy. I was really hoping the gator vs Auburn would work out but I'm ok with Tampa
Nah. To me what matters outside of the playoffs is who you play, where you play, and when you play (in that order). I’m fine with UCF. I’m happy about Tampa. I’d like a post Christmas bowl, but that’s the lowest criteria for me.

Outside of the bowl, I am miffed about the lack of respect Tech gets.

When I see the Ok st game score ,I shudder to think that we play a team that can do that. That reminds me of the Bos Coll game vs FSU where BC almost beat the ACC champs (with their BEST QB) That team then showed up for us later.
Only our best effort will get this done..

It’s time to show the Playoff Puppeteers, Schemer Sankey, and the NC State Saboteurs that GT is back. They won’t keep us down!!!

So…

1. Everyone was pissed we were projected to go to NYC to play Rutgers in cold weather at noon as opposed to playing in a warmer weather drivable game in BHam, Charlotte or in Fla.

2. Then we got really ööööing pissed when they sent us that ööööhole in Birmingham.

3. Now we are irate at the disrespect of going to Tampa because we should have been given a higher tier bowl, in Birmingham NyC Boston, etc?

Did I miss anything?

Exactly. We could be playing in The Derek Zoolander Bowl for Teams Who Can’t Play Football Good and I'd be excited.

This is too funny!!! But to expand "The Derek Zoolander Bowl for Teams Who can't Play Football or Walk Very Good"

I was fine with going to NYC. Good trip for me and for the team, 4x the payout of the Tier 2 bowls. I’d have been happy with anything other than the Tier 2 bowls, which you’d like to think a 4th place conference record would insulate you from.

We took a few years off from bowling and we aren’t world beaters this year, but one thing is constant - we almost allways get hosed in bowl selection unless a destination is contractually obligated.

Guess GT is receiving it's welcome back floor mat to bowl re-entry-dom.
Thank you. May we have another.
