It may have been mentioned here previously by others but it just dawned on me that since Collins knew he would be fired at year’s end, he is actually incentivized to the tune of $3.3 million to get fired before the end of the year.

Even the length and amount of the contract could at least be defended in a rational way, though I agree it was overboard.

The fact that the buyout dropped at the end of the calendar year instead of the end of the regular season made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
