Official GT Head Coach News Thread

No doubt if you don't want to be excited about him, it's easy to do that too. In general I prefer to be optimistic and that's why I would've been really happy with either him or Chadwell, and was even on board with BOB despite the general consensus that he is mediocre and uninspiring.

Maybe I'll find a way to get excited about Fritz too. But my initial thoughts are that it's really tough to get past the fact that he has five losing conference records in seven seasons at Tulane. That doesn't mean he won't be successful here, but it makes it difficult for me to get excited about him.

And there's his age.

On the upside, he went 9-3 and won his conference in Georgia Southern's very first year in the FBS, and has managed to make four bowls in five years at a school that had only had back-to-back winning seasons like three times in the previous 60 years.

NCAA not pleased that we did not interview diverse candidates before hiring another old white guy

That’s Dave Clawson’s records at Wake Forest.

I get what you’re trying to do here. But there’s a difference between keeping your head above water at a brutal P5 job and doing the same at a bad G5 program. A good coach can put a bad G5 on the map. Incredibly difficult to take a bad P5 program and make it relevant.

So again, not completely disagreeing with the point you’re making. But I think Clawson is an extreme of that point.

Would you take this guy as HC? Left column is overall and right is conference.

I would say those are pretty good results if your at Wake Forest playing a P5 conference schedule.

And Fritz’s records at Tulane are pretty good results when compared against historical performance.
