On to GA St

Gotta admit, I’m more nervous about this game than the FSU game. That game we had nothing to lose and everything to gain. This game is the opposite. That mentality has been bred into all of us Tech fans. Time for Key to put an end to it, like Dabo did (for a while) with ClemsonIng.
i wanted to like this post but dabo is still a clown

No, he's the player who stepped up when we needed him against UGAg and left his guts out on the field after our prima donna 4* quit in the middle of a game
Is Zach's brother Tyler still here? Seems like when Zach transferred to GSU it was a chance to stay in GA because his family is here. Nothing against Zach, but I like our guy. If Key says this is our guy and he gives us the best chance to win, then I believe it.

I'm not really concerned about this like I would have been in the past. There is no bigger Tech fan than Key. He has suffered through all the same things we have, but now that he is in control I'm sure he is highly focused on this very thing. I think this is what he was referring to when he said the next step is to learn how to win consistently.

At least in the interviews I heard Saturday, Key and the players all sounded very confident to me. I think I'm nervous because I actually do expect us to handle business against Georgia State, and that this team is different, despite knowing that in my experience, it is far wiser to have no expectations and at least brace for the worst. But it has been a very long eight years and if they believe in themselves then I am down to believe too.

Santucci will have our defense ready. I was thrilled when we got him from Elko's staff. I for sure thought he was going to TAMU. It was awesome to see our guys not only play aggressive but maintain gap integrity, and smother F$U all day after the first drive. Something we never saw from Thacker's defenses. I think we're going to surprise a lot of people if we can stay healthy. Bank on it.

Could also be that Thacker was just underqualified and not very good. He only had two years of position coaching at UCF and Kennesaw State before he coached under Collins at Temple

Maybe Santucci was ready to break from his mentor, so he could do the things he wanted to do. It may have given the freedom he was seeking.

*3 years. Coached safeties at So Miss too

Continue to pound the LOS like we're tenderizing a side of beef that's still frozen. Don't get cute and throw it until we're up 17 or more.

Post GC3 disorder.

The Trauma goes back way farther than GC3. That doofus inflicted the most (by far), but going 3-9 right after winning the Orange Bowl, even with 4 of 5 returning OL and Justin Thomas produces significant trauma. Scoring 6 points in an ACCCG with Megatron and Tashard choice on the roster against Weak Florist produces trauma. Losses to Big Sue and MTSU produce trauma (not to mention the cupcake losses under the clown). And that's just recent years. There's the mid 90's. The perennial 7-6 under Gailey. Trauma is built into this fan base in a way that few can compete with.

I like the direction this team is going. I don't think there's a coach in the nation that wants his team to win more than Key does. I think he can get us to the point where we don't sweat these types of games, but I'm not there yet. I'm optimistic. We should win, but it's going to be a while before I'm confident.

I will say the 3-9 after the orange bowl definitly had some to do with no shaq mason and a few injuries on the OL that year.

Oh, for sure. From what I remember the team was absolutely decimated that year. It just goes to show how tenuous success is, though. A couple of bad breaks can completely derail a season.

Again, I'm fully bought into what Key is building. You don't go 5-0 against ranked ACC teams without doing a lot of things right. I think we're 100% heading in the right direction. I just don't trust success yet. I've seen too many eggs. I'm still going to have alcohol ready this season.

Tyler Gibson transferred to Charlotte this offseason.
