On To Syracuse!

After Week 1, our schedule does not look nearly as menacing. We could win 8-9 games.
I agree, the schedule does not look quite as imposing. We get by Syracuse we start 4-0, if we split the two road games with UL and UNC, beat Duke & VT, probably lose to Miami, ND, and UGA, and then that leaves NCST at home for an 8th win. Now if we could pull off one win among Miami, ND, or UGA that would be 9 wins. That would be one heck of a second season for CBK and would take a good turnover margin and a kind injury bug … but I think it’s doable. Of course we got to beat Syracuse first.

Bro. We’re not losing to Miami, ND, and uga. We’re winning at least 2 of those 3 and we’re not losing to uga this year. We’re winning at least 10 this year. I’ve been saying this all off season. It is happening.

I have zero field vision, for context, but was the QB run not there yesterday or was Key holding that back for next week?

Run the ball effectively and get some decent pass rush and we got it. If not, shoot out incoming.
I only see one of those two happening. Our D Line has been great against the run, but has only logged 1 sack in 2 games. McCord could throw for a lot on Saturday. Syracuse can't stop the run though, so I think we can still come out on top. It's a tough matchup.

My quick takeaways:
1. Ohio was an undersized, outmatched opponent but played well enough to keep the game close for much of the game.
2. Ohio gashed Syracuse on the ground a lot. Syracuse D-line is very suspect. I expect Tech will run it a lot depending on the health of RB's.
3. Syracuse has a pretty good QB and talented receivers. Most of their yardage came through the air. Ohio secondary was pitiful.
4. Tech should have a pretty good advantage on the line on both sides of the ball.
5. Syracuse had a pretty good crowd and it was loud. I expect a bigger and louder crowd as Tech comes to town.

RUN THE BALL

Listening to a bunch of Syracuse podcasts today. Every single one basically says, “GT was ranked last in the ACC on defense so we can score on them. It’ll be a high scoring game but we can win.”

No mention of a new DC or scheme or personnel… it’s like they haven’t watched our games.

I hope their coaches are basing their game plan on last year too.
