On To Syracuse!

After watching some highlights of the Cuse/Ohio game, Syracuse is more athletic than I thought, especially at WR. We will have to play like our hair is on fire and eliminate the dumb penalties to win.
Syracuse's OL is the key. We get pressure with 4, they ded. We don't, we may be ded.

Guy next to me on flight back from Paris played at the Cuse. Says he's excited about what Fran Brown is doing there.
Dude was about 6-2, 270 and solid and looked like he could still play. He was getting back from Istanbul and Sweden laying down hip hop tracks and crushing Jack Daniels and Coke on the flight back to Hartsfield-Jackson.

I think Cuse’s OL is the key to them staying in the game. Maybe they scheme up a way to slow our run game, but honestly their fanbase seems to be conceding that we’ll likely run all over them. Their assumption is that they’ll also pass all over us in a shootout.

If our DL is getting push I think we run away with it. If we’re not then they’ve got as good a chance as any. I’m not sold on our pass defense yet. But after watching this OL consistently roll I am sold on our run game. Our last 5 games dating back to last year (Cuse, UGA, UCF, FSU, GAST) were averaging 222 rypg and 6.0 ypc. Lowest total was 190 on FSU.

That's the feeling I get from Cuse's board. They seem to be an educated bunch - about half seem to think they'll win, the other half think we will. No real potshots, but educated opinions based stats. Pleasantly surprised, considering some boards have folks who apparently eat an actual bowl of turd if their team loses.

They played dirty AF against us last year, I know our players and coaches won't forget that Sat nt that we became bowl eligible. That being said, we need to play knowing they may try and do some cheap stuff again too, will need to be focused for sure.

Technically no turds have been consumed despite promises

This is the first game we're playing a team with recent film. It'll say a lot about our coaches' ability to scheme.

Our first two games showed a lot about our student athletes' toughness and athleticism b/c we didn't have much to prepare on. Sure, it revealed our coaches' ability to make in-game adjustments, which is great, but there are still some unknowns.

Considering this, I'm excited to get a better picture of what this year's squad will offer. I'm more optimistic about our team than I've been since CPJ ... but not so fast. We need to see how this team plays on the road against a team that has film from this year.

If we walk out with a W, I have very high hopes for this year's squad. An L means we win maybe 6, while a W means we have good chance of posting our second 8+ win season of the past decade.

Can't wait for Saturday!

It would be nice to not have the game start with a long drive down the field by Cuse. I recommend receiving the ball to start the game if given the option.

Yes, I believe Key will get on them, look for a more well disciplined team.

I agree with that for the most part. After listening to some of their media leading up to the game the one thing that I don't understand is the fact that they continually refer to how bad our run defense is using last year's stats as the measuring stick. I can understand that from some of the message board posters, but find it very lazy homework by their sports "journalists". First of all we not only have a new defensive coordinator but ALL of the position coaches have changed as well on defense. Also, a good portion of our defensive players are new as well. It's like if we said the Cuse offense isn't very good based on how they performed last year.

If the coaches think that way too, I'm all about surprises. I did see a thread on them mocking Key's speaking style during his press conference so making them eat their words wouldn't be a terrible idea.
