Louisville clapped Notre Dame cheeks
Blaming the offense for our woeful defense. That is the pinnacle of deflectioning! An offense is going to have some off games and need to rely on the defense to win some games occasionally. Kind of like what happened in last night's game with Miami.Miami (Oh) also didn't have the ball only 6 minutes in the 1st half with the following 1st half drives after 14-0:
3 plays, 2 yards (1:28) - punt.
3 plays, -1 yards (0.50) - punt.
5 plays, 8 yards (1:02) - botched punt.
8 plays, 32 yards (1:53) - punt.
Let’s keep it going into the 2nd half shall we?
8 plays, 62 yards (3:28) - Downs. (Couldn’t convert on 3rd & 4th and less than 1).
2 plays, 19 yards (0.39) - Pick 6.
8 plays, 81 yards - TD.
So after going up 14-0, it took the offense 7 possessions (which also provided BG 7 points on the INT) to score another point. Yet it’s all the defenses fault? Some of you are blind to reality.
Yep. Defense came through last night. Wasn't pretty, but the interceptions and fumble are do to hard work and coaching. Our defense put in 100% effort last night.Blaming the offense for our woeful defense. That is the pinnacle of deflectioning! If we win tonight it will be the miracle of miracles.
You should check his pussy posts in the game thread.POTD
LOL, so you didn't think the win was miraculous?POTD
Dude, the offense couldn’t move the ball on a MAC level team. That is not deflecting, that’s simply stating facts backed up by the actual drive logs. And when the players come out after the game and say things like “we didn’t take them seriously“ that applies to both sides of the ball.Blaming the offense for our woeful defense. Dude. Yes, the offense has sputtered at times but come on. We have a defense ranked near the bottom in many statistics. Our offense, while maybe not a juggernaut, is not near the bottom of the rankings. Stats (facts) don't lie.Dude, the offense couldn’t move the ball on a MAC level team. Don’t act like the offense hasn’t been inept at times. 2nd half vs UofL, multiple times @ Wake when gifted great field position after Wake turned the ball over numerous times.
The program is definitely still in a rebuild mode along the LOS on both sides of the ball, and numerous other positions on both sides of the ball need more talent whether from recruiting or the Portal.

I started to quote a few lines of Miracles by Jefferson Starship as a response to his postThis aged Well
I’m not disagreeing with the stats related to the defense, but look at the offense in context outside of the BG game.Dude. Yes, the offense has sputtered at times but come on. I read a Saban comment from a couple years ago something to the effect that the old premise that defense wins championships is not as apt as it use to be. You need to be able to out offense your opponent in this new era of college football. Can't say I disagree but if you look at UGA for the last couple of years they have had a pretty dominant defense and an above average offense. I looked up GT's defensive numbers for the last decade and in 2013 we were in the top 30 in scoring defense. Other than that year we have been pretty below average. We have room for improvement in all facets.I’m not disagreeing with the stats related to the defense, but look at the offense in context outside of the BG game.
1. UofL - Outside of the 2nd quarter, the offense couldn’t do much in the 2nd half and the fumble return for a TD ended up costing GT a real shot at the win.
2. Ole Miss - GT managed 10 points offense through 3 quarters against a bad Ole Miss D. The D kept them in the game, and GT got within 7 at 24-17 mid 4th and then everything went sideways.
3. Wake - GT O was given plenty of chances to turn the game into a blowout and just couldn’t put Wake away late in the 1st half, and squandered chances in the 2nd half to make the 4th quarter relaxing to watch.
The overall team has holes and I won’t disagree that the D has more holes. This has been GT’s issue for the better part of the last 15 years.
As I’ve said before, year 2 under CBK will really show what the future will look like. I fully expect improvement on both sides of the ball in 2024. Year 2 in this offense and a new DC with hopefully some key Portal additions.
Good news overall regarding the D is, it could be much worse. Look at how bad LSU, USC, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Baylor etc are with all the resources they have at their disposal.
Agreed! If we win tonight it will be the miracle of miracles.
Agreed. Which is why Oklahoma and now USC under Lincoln Riley will never win an NC until Riley gets out of his own way and changes DC and defensive recruiting philosophy, he’s just wasting elite talent at QB.I read a Saban comment from a couple years ago something to the effect that the old premise that defense wins championships is not as apt as it use to be. That offense “that couldn’t move” moved well enough to put up 450 yards and 31 points. Yes, they were flat for an extended span in the middle but 31 points - even the 27 we actually put on the board - should have been enough had the D just gotten a couple of stops in that span. IOW, that dysfunctional O still did plenty to win the game.Dude, the offense couldn’t move the ball on a MAC level team. The offense had the ball 6 total minutes in the 1st half. How is this continually ignored? When the TOP is that lopsided, it doesn’t matter what defense you have. GT also has 3 turnovers. So you keep putting the unit struggling back on the field bad things are going to happen. And in this game, without question did. And fwiw the last TD to get to 27 was with less than 1:45 in the game. That offense “that couldn’t move” moved well enough to put up 450 yards and 31 points.
