Paul Johnson/Ted Roof

When you don't have a recruiting department more than 4 people this is the kind of product you see on the field. We're bitching about firing people and bringing a better coach or whatever, how the öööö are we going to do that when we're still paying for 2 bball coaches, paying a buyout for CPJ and our cheap ass donors and fans are not giving the support they need to see the product they want. This is America, if you want something bigger and better you pay for it. Adidas contract was the first step to great many things to come, but like TIA said now's the time to donate if you wanna see a change. And not like I'm giving Tech $300 a year for cheapo tix so I deserve to see the coach fired type donation. Some of you people think $15 is too much for tix and then you bitch about the shit product on the field. Bunch of cheap ass whiny ass 80K braggers with nothing to show for it.

Its actually very simple. Even if they wanted to fire CPJ right now they can't, his buyout is too large. So CPJ stays. But CPJ knows he is on the hot seat and needs immediate success, and there isn't time to bring in a new DC to start the defense from scratch. So, whether CPJ is pleased with Roof or not, Roof stays.

Best case scenario is some assistants are replaced.

Stansbury is solidly in PJ's corner and is working to get the upgrades the program needs, from amenities to additional staff. The new locker room and the adidas deal are going to be big helps in recruiting. And that's from Stansbury himself.
PJ isn't going anywhere unless he wants to go somewhere. And he doesn't want to be anywhere but where he is right now. He is the unhappiest of all at being 5-6. There are fixes to be made and some won't be easy.

When do you think we will hear about some of these fixes?

If the AD wants to improve the program and facilities that is great, much is needed. Improving the program starts with the office staff as well. Good coaches get good players. So if you were a HS SR playing D would you come to GT? After watching the program this past season and play for Teddy? Honestly think about it, so you would attend GT put up with the classes and then put up with a D that is half ass? So now you know what we get for recruits on signing day.

Sooooooo, you're on board with the "not committing suicide" crowd. Fine. I'm not. All those that feared that dumping Chan would be suicide were wrong.

There is so much cognitive dissonance in this post it's hard to know where to start.

Improving the program above "3 championship game appearances per decade" will require GT going private and getting out from underneath the thumb of the GA board of regents. Flat out.

If you want to beat Georgia regularly, you cannot let a bunch of Dwag season ticket holders control what majors we offer. Period.

If there is going to be any moves, I suspect late December or mid-February. Too close to the two signing dates. Another stinker like this year and CPJ may not be around for 2019. I think Roof stays. So if I were Pelton and Speed, I'd start looking around. Some of the other guys might want to check out the Social Security Website. I hope I'm wrong.

We have 4 whole recruiting staff, and you think we're going to get sustained success by swapping coaches?

k
This is what I've been saying in many posts: If you make a coaching change, what else are you going to change that will make him more successful? PJ is the most successful coach we've had since Dodd and has done so under the most difficult conditions any of those coaches had regarding recruiting and competition. Just swapping out the head coach won't change anything.

College football: putting education first!

I have direct word from GT faculty that multiple BOR decisions, both with regard to limits on major offerings at GT, and regard to expansion of major offerings at UGA, were made purely for reasons related to maintaining a UGA football competitive advantage.

GT is not only playing with one hand tied behind our back, our state rival is the one that tied the knot. We can either accept that, or we can divest ourselves from being a state institution. We can easily go private from a revenue standpoint, as the majority of our income now comes from research instead of tuition. The significant hurdle is that the BOR owns some of the land.
