Paul Johnson

You can beat the likes of Pitt, USF and Duke with a team full of 3 stars...because they are also teams full of 3 stars.

We have beaten one P5 team and are 1-1 against G5.
In how
A team full of 3-stars doesn't have to run in plays from the sideline and can incorporate a hurry-up offense into the package. A team of 3-stars can run quick pass-plays from the shotgun when down multiple TDs in the 4th rather than run clock-killing FB dives. A team full of 3-stars shouldn't put the ball on the ground as often as ours does. A team full of 3-stars can sometimes have an actual Senior Leader on the team to rally the guys.

We don't have nor do any of this.

It's Johnson.
History, Dodd stops coaching, Carson has 1 good year, but is known more having trouble with the black community in Atlanta. Fulcher 2 ok years, Pepper none, Curry 1 good year but wound up in Birmingham Bowl, Ross 1 National Champ, but we had to share it, Lewis no comment, George 1 great year 2 good ones, Gaily, total failure, Johson 2 good years several ok years and working on his 3rd crap year. Find the guy who make GT, Alabama or Georgia, who will that be?

I am mystified by these comments. We have indeed been pretty mediocre for a long time. So do you want to accept that? Or do you want to think of some things we could do to get better?

I believe and I know I have said this before...also it will not be well received. When you cannot fill obvious holes in your game by juco transfers you are not competitive. GT will not out recruit most. When we have holes we need this more than anything to compete. If GT could and keep them eligible for one or two years things would be better.

Again, excuses. If you really believe this is the best we can do, then why bother playing at all? If you don't think we can win another ACC champ or even a MNC, then better to stop wasting everyone's time.

Aint nobody talking about being Bama, we just want to be a better version of GT again.

You’ve listed a string of coaches who all had some ups and downs, but in the end basically sucked. Maybe it ain’t the coaches.

What Dabo has done at CU, Sabin at UA, you pick the top teams is to get everyone on the same page, from students to faculty to admissions to boosters to bag men. That ain’t never happened at GT and probably won’t no matter who the coach is. History tells us that.

We are consistently losing to talent that is, at best, equal to ours.

3iar to Duke? Bye bye.

Paul Johnson's passion is his option offense. His special teams and defense are evidence of this.

Honestly, if we're going to be grown ups here there's only one way we ever compete with the big boys. We have to start paying the players enough to come here. You always hear about how much Clemson started investing in football. Do you really think those investments went primarily to facilities? What do you think, "investing in recruiting" means? We all know Dabo is a clown shoe, but he recruits well. That just means he pays well.

Who has ever said we could be bama? Auburn, LSU, ut, n.d., psu, osu can’t be bama (right now), so who said this?

We better have a goal of beating ugag more, but we aren’t even on the page with puke now.

We will probably upset someone yet this year (sadly that might include uva), but nothing will be solved.

Paul Johnson didn't drop the football today. Our team did. Many times.

I hate that I'm this cynical, but I think you're right. It's gotta be this.

If GT didn't adhere so much to its precious academic rankings, then maybe it wouldn't have been necessary to hire Paul Johnson in the first place!

GO JACKETS!!
byteback
It is frustrating that we could allow more exceptions with no impact on our academic rankings. I see no evidence that Peterson cares about our athletic performance.

Down 21 at the start of the 4th qtr, he fooled Duke by taking half the qtr to score a TD. Like every other DC in America, Duke was probably expecting some sort of urgency by our offense. Instead, CPJ fooled 'em by running in plays from the sideline, not going no-huddle, running clock-killing B-back dives, taking tons of time between plays, etc.

he's an offensive genius.

This had me unglued. 7 minutes to go, down 3 td and he's trying to kill the clock with 40 second runoff for each play. Doesn't anyone say into the headset, lets pick up the pace? That's Butch Jones stupid. or he had already given up. And all the yes men around him weren't challenging him. Bad all around, embarrassing.
