PJ and Sewak

So is this Sewak or PJ? When it's gone on as long as it has, isn't it fair to thus say PJ doesn't understand what we need on OL?

I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting. I think our players are capable. My statement is if it's not recruiting it is coaching. So pick one. I believe it's coaching. PJ is a head coach. His responsibility is getting the most from his coaches. The position coaches are responsible for getting the most out of their position players. If performance across the board was an issue it would indicate we may have an overall coaching issue. But we don't. We have fought and given good effort in all games. We don't have the lack of development at other positions that we do on the Oline. This isn't mutually exclusive to this year. It's been like he majority of years. There is a pattern here.

PJ needs to address it but I don't think he will. I think he honestly believes Sewak knows his stuff and by all indications so does the rest of the coaching world. But it's not translating to the kids and hasn't.

i think all aspects of the program should be thoroughly analyzed for performance against the standard. Problems should be identified and strategies developed to address those problems both short and long term. No one or no thing should be considered a sacred cow. When you have a decline in results this dramatic over such a short period of time, and the operation is not performing to standard, then you must inspect and then correct the cause of the shortfall.

I expect to see some modifications in strategy and or personnel over the off season.

Go Jackets!

Don't tell me,you're going to call five meetings this week so the secretary can voice her opinion on copier machine etiquette?

My question is: Is Sewak doing exactly what PJ wants him to do? If so, it is PJ that needs to rethink the OL gameplan, and the problem is not fundamental coaching from Sewak.

CPJ has indicated once or twice that sewak was on probation and needed to step up his game. CPJ has also consistently indicated that OL has been performing at a level below what is needed. I think part of the reason we got rychelski is because of his OL coaching experience.

When we can pay players and all of us pitch in 80k style?

I guess I didn't ask the question well. What I should have asked was this: do you mean until the buyout of CPJ's contract is low enough that we can recruit a better coach, or that until we can recruit better players? I don't see the latter happening under CPJ. It's not his thing.

This years freshman class looks pretty good. Not even a year in and they've got about 40 starts.

I don't think anyone can come in here and competitively recruit with Clemson, F$U, Uga, Auburn, Bama, etc.

There are numerous threads that discuss the reasons why we cannot recruit as many players, but they include academic restrictions, the Hill, Board of Regents, etc.

Why is it when we have a player leaving our program and we lose games because of injuries, etc. a certain Georgia Tech board posters think our players have given up on our coaches and team ?

Plus if we support our team and coaching staff (may not be happy with things) we are delusional and koolaid drinkers? I guess some people love misery and hate. Funny they only five/six posters  Will say their's about three or so of them you can have an intelligent conversation with and not hear the word Dumbo Jr., etc.

Well, 90, if you are referring to me, I said PJ lost the team long before Summers left, if that is what you are referring to. I know some of the players and they give me the inside scoop. PJ should fire Sewak. He does not coach well. He should have elevated Charles Kelley to DC. He shouldn't have uselessly cast mud on AH's rep in an attempt to keep him from transferring to the University of Florida. Hind sight is 20/20.

As to the Koolaid, guilty. I love the Jackets too much early in the season, before the pain of butthurt creeps in. I can have a pretty decent conversation about a lot of football including the Flexbone. Including techniques of the entire offense, and some of the defense. But I prefer to do that verbally with someone who has some knowledge. Not on a message board.

So fire Sewak, and think about that other thing but don't do it.

Awesome analysis Steve. You know some players. Whooop Whooo watch out!! Let me spell it out for you because you were wrong before on players quitting and that hasn't changed. I agree with you on Sewak. While everyone's disappointed this season has been what it is, only an utter moron would believe the players have quit.

Do you know what it looks like when players actually quit? Serious question. Have you ever seen it before? I have on a few occasions.

The second half of 1992 season the players quit on Bill Lewis. We lost to FSU at home in terrible fashion. Lewis put the blame straight on the players in the locker room presser. We proceed to barely beat Duke, lose to a crappy UNC team, a crappy Baylor team and a crappy Wake Forest team. Then had our asses handed to us at home by UGA. The players gave up on the coach the second half of that season. It was obvious.

1994... You had a locker room divided because Lewis backed the wrong QB in Luginbill over Donnie Davis and everyone knew it.

2002... O'Leary's players particularly the seniors quit on Chan Gailey which was evident most of the season but particularly obvious in Athens when we got demolished 51-7 and it very well should have been 100-7.

So far this season, we've had a slew of injuries, forced to play freshman, etc. The team shows fight in every game. The effort is there, the lack of execution isn't. For all the screw ups, the team has fought and been in the game int he 4th quarter. We're just a bad team. Doesn't mean anyone has quit on the coach. Maybe you can show me exactly where the team has quit on Paul Johnson? Educate us all Steve.

agree, the team has not quit. quite the opposite, imo.

but who is steve?
