PJ and Uniform Changes

One of the changes I could see PJ making to the uniforms is taking the names off the back of their jerseys to reienforce the team ethic & let everyone know they play for GT & that it's not about individuals alone but about working together to accomplish GREAT THINGS! outside of that wouldn't expect too many changes....he's got bigger fish to fry...

Let's go real old school and wear these --circa 1893.

Is that Techwood in the background?

Beej, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but our fans already wear 7 or 8 different colors on Saturdays.

My point was it was getting better, but any progress towards an all gold stadium will go in the crapper if we open up the Navy uniforms again. If nobody cares, then fine, go Navy, but I count 10 threads per season (and innumerable ones in offseason) complaining about how our stadium looks. I take that to mean that people do care.

We are making significant progress in the "gold movement."

Check out these two panoramic shots. The first is from the UNC game in 2003:

This one is from the Army game last year:

I don't know man, that T better be gold

:1orglaugh: --woops, I used an orange laugh
:laugher: --there, that's better

ncj, just make sure you get the gold right --that's 'old' gold, as opposed to 'new piss' gold.

Navy jerseys would be almost as big a mistake as when UK had those denim colored basketball jerseys for that one year in the 90s.

Yeah, but they won the nat'l championship in those unis (which is the major crutch that we use to defend our navy jerseys).

No navy for me. Our offense will look enough like Navy without our uniforms following suit.

I like the traditional look from the Dodd era of gold pants, white jerseys, and gold helmets. Wear those on the road.

I loved the throwback uniform for all home games. Having a road and home helmet would be cool and distinctive.

GT's official colors are now white, old gold and navy blue. The GT history of wearing navy blue goes back to the very beginning of the Institute, and many of Dodd's teams wore navy jerseys.

Whether our jerseys are white, gold or blue, I don't think the fans and the team should be wearing the same colors.

The color that fans need to wear is bright neon yellow. Not old gold, not vegas gold, but Buzz-head-yellow. The yellow the Goldfellas paint themselves. The yellow that I am still scraping flecks of off the bathroom and kitchen floors occasionally after joining them on 11/24.

If we care about cohesion and standing out, gold will never do that but yellow will.

My personal preference is blue jerseys and white breeches, the 1990 unis that we wore in the 07 Gator. It's one of the best looking unis in college football. To paraphrase CPJ, Vegas gold makes us look like a bunch of french fries -- both players and fans.

BTW assuming we do continue to wear gold, I like the throwback unis as well.

They got an awesome response from the CFB world in general if you read other boards, and the players loved them. And that shade of yellow/gold is a color that would make GT stand out a lot more.

Speaking of which, we are YELLOW Jackets. Shouldn't we be wearing YELLOW? All they need are some minor modifications...

And then we might be able to do that all white thing too.

The difference is that the CEO of Nike is not an alumni of Tech.

If we ever start to look like Oregon, I'm going to start listening to all our games on the radio instead of watching them...

And the throwbacks were cool as throwbacks. Seeing that mustard, baby poop gold every week would be an eyesore, too.

I'm not a big Navy fan (the color obviously) but I absolutely HATE our current gold jerseys. I don't care about font as long as the numbers stand out so you can read them.

In my opinion, those YELLOW jerseys and helmets that we wore this past year (supposedly gold) were the worst looking things Tech has ever worn.

We NEED to go back to the OLD GOLD that Tech used to wear....preferably gold helmets, white jerseys, and gold pants....my favorites are the '50s version.

But, whatever, get rid of that YELLOW color!

I love to reiterate this occassionally:

I LOVED the throwback unis to 69/70/71ish. White helmets, OLD gold jerseys and white pants.

I LOVE the traditional white jerseys with gold breeches and gold helmets too.

And for special occasions I would not be above the GOLD OUT uni, Gold helmets, gold jersey and gold pants.

Oregon's uniforms are pretty badass if you ask me. They have like 300 + combinations at their disposal I think.

Throwback to what?

The days of Bud Carson? One winning season during his tenure? One bowl game? Why in the world would you want to go back to those uniforms?

Georgia Tech = Gold Helmets (period)

I'm in favor of wearing the 'Midnight Blue" jerseys occasional, maybe even with white pants. Otherwise, stay with the traditional Gold Helmets, White Jerseys, and Gold Pants. But burn the gold jerseys forever. Get rid of them and never, ever consider them again. Burn those god-awful black athletic socks too!:laugher:
