PJ

Everyone MUST read this post. It is very eye-opening to actually realize the types of coaches (those mentioned plus the Fridge and others) that ACTIVELY pursued our job versus what is gong on at Auburn.

Could anyone buy a coach? Yes. For example Oklahoma State could probably buy Saban from Bama if their big money donors felt like grossly overpaying the going rate. So you should never be too smug, but it appears that GT overall is more desireable than Auburn.

Also, think about this...

The entire SEC has a big ego, but when was the last time anyone other than LSU actually hired a HC away from another BCS league?

At least Michigan and Rich Rodriguez, which hasn't exactly been flowers and sunshine. There was also Colorado hiring the sleazey guy from Northwestern and Franchione going to TAMU in the middle of the night from Alabama.

I think he meant when was the last time a team in the SEC, other than LSU, hired a HC away from a different BCS conference

Just one of the current SEC head coaches was obtained that way, but three were hired away from the NFL, which I suppose could fuel a lot of ego.

Alabama--Nick Saban(via Dolphins)
Arkasnas--Bobby the asshole Petrino(no comment)
LSU--Les Miles(via Oklahoma State)
South Carolina--Steve Spurrier(via Washington Redskins)

And then there's Rich Brooks at Kentucky. They hired him when he was the Falcons' DC, but he had been a coach in another BCS conference (Oregon) and an NFL HC (the Rams).

LSU seems to be an outlier as they took Miles from a solid Ok St team and Saban away from Mich State. I think this is an acknowledgement that LSU has recruiting advantages over the rest of their division that cannot be overlooked.

Guys flunking out, burning out or otherwise falling out of the NFL is not the same thing and doesn't impress me any more than Groh.

It is interesting to see names like PJ, Butch Davis, Frank Beamer, Grobe and Cutcliffe come up initially high on the wish lists only to see far lesser candidates hired.

If teams like Nebraska and Tennessee can't get Grobe from WAKE FOREST, what quality bud must the war eagles be smoking to think PJ and Davis are realistic?

half the guys on the Auburn board are still convinced that PJ has a boring offense and can be stopped by loading the box.

I live in Lower Alabama, and these people are delusional. Both the warm beagle and elephant fans think that football in the state of Alabama is the end all of the subject, and that anyone anywhere would want to coach or play for one of those two schools. The rest of college football exists so that bama and au will have someone to play when they aren't playing each other.

It is great to know that PJ can't be bought out. I'm glad he wants to stay here and continue to be the coach of Tech. I see a great future with him. I love the way he fires up our guys. Watching him, get in the face of the players to let them know what should of happened. Also when our players do right the big smack in the a$$ PJ gives to our boys. I think it's BS that PJ wasn't a final candidate for COY, but he will have other chances. This team is about to go to places that it's hasn't in a long time, and by god I'm ready for the ride.

Me too! I wish the powers that be would sign PJ to a 25 year unbreakable contract.

DRad is meeting with PJ's agent this morning I believe.

Lock him up, Dan!

Hahaha.

Stop it stop it stop it.

The option will never work in the SEC. The defenses are just too fast.

Auburn hasn't lost to an option team this century, but they've lost to Chan Gailey twice. Clearly that's what Auburn needs to compete in the SEC. A good old fashioned Chan Gailey offense. Power running, roll out passing, deep threat to stretch the field, ball control. That's what works in the SEC.

I think he's available. He's a proven winner. He's got a better bowl streak than Tuberville.

Someone should bring back the Nest. I'm not local anymore, so it won't be me. But really, how cool would it be now that we have a kickazz coach matching those initials!

Taz ... though certainly not of the devious, insane nature of Lowder.

Are you sure - by reading the boards one would think our Bobby Lowder is Drew Hearn. More concerned about the colors we wear than the results on the field.
