Playoffs?!!

The only reason SMU wasn’t left out is because conferences don’t want to end Conference Championship games. It’s a $$$ grab for the conferences and TV networks. Had SMU been left out, it would have officially been the end of Conference Championship games. It’s that simple.
Interesting theory.

I get what Saban is saying, but to abide by his way of thinking a 9-3 Bama would have been ranked ahead of 11-1 SMU prior to the conference championships.
Having people vote on who the top teams are makes strength of schedule unreliable. The only fair way is to have a 10 game regular season, no
conference championship game and a 128 team tournament without byes.
First year the Big Twelve and ACC have better strength of schedule than SEC and Big Ten those conferences will be bitching to change the system.

Franklin will still lose though. Penn St is overrated garbage, as usual. They played 2 good teams & lost to both
While I agree with you on Franklin overall, that PSU offense can score. That’s the difference between this year and previous years against teams like tOSU, Oregon, etc. If PSU gets by SMU, they will roll Boise. Boise has not looked that good lately at all. Yeah they beat a good UNLV team 21-7 Friday night, but struggled with very bad Nevada (3-10) and Wyoming (3-9) teams in recent weeks.

It's interesting tracking the odds for teams to win the Championship before and after the seeding. Texas's odds got better, Notre Dame's got worse (+900 -> +1200). Tells you who got the easier paths

Either ND or PSU could take em

I also think Clemson could easily make it to the semi final round.

My guess right now is PSU v Oregon for all the marbles. I think PSU could win the whole thing.
PSU has a single ranked win and already lost to Oregon on a neutral field. They're posers.

The impact, and the potential impact, Georgia Tech has and could have had on the playoffs...

We beat Miami. That did them no favors. Did us a heap of good, though.
If we had held on and beaten the Mutts, they would not have been a 2 seed. Maybe they don't get a bye, either. Who knows?
And where would Clemson be placed if former Georgia Tech quarterback/linebacker Demetrius Knight doesn't come up with that game-ending interception for South Carolina?

Would be happy to see Clemson Tennessee SMU ND in the semifinal. ugag fans love to cheer for Tennessee.

Georgia got as good a draw as you can get. Oregon faces a tough challenge in their first game. Given that conference champions who are not that strong get seeded 3 and 4, 8 and 9 end up being good teams.
