Who Do You Want as HC Now?

There are lots of things a head coach is responsible for, like overseeing recruiting, player development, and interacting with media and alumni. It's an executive role that goes beyond weekly preparation and game day decisions. It's probably better to hire someone who has shown an ability to put all those responsibilities together to establish a successful program. Key doesn't have a complete resume, yet. Chadwell does. I'm afraid Deion will always be about Deion and overshadow everything else.

Key's stock is definitely rising, but it started at basically zero. I am still aiming for the pie in the sky of Coach Prime as of today, but we really need to let it play out.

2 options needed:

Give Key the opportunity to win the job first. If it doesn’t work out then it’s Deion or bust for me.

Yeah, I'd be good with a one year contract loaded with incentives and a possible 3-4 year extension based on next years performance.

Generally I think people who say coaches need three to four years left on their contracts to be able to recruit properly are being overly dramatic, but in this case I think you really would be setting him up for failure.

No one would want to come play for a first-year coach where the school has so little confidence in him they only guarantee him one year. If we are that unsure then we just shouldn't hire him.

Still not voting Key yet, he's still gotta win more than one. His stock is rising to me, but I'm not switching to him yet.
It will take a hell of an improvement on the O-line for me to change my mind. I have have some evidence it was Collins practice style that prevented Key and not Key himself.

We don’t have an untalented roster! And upsets happen.

With Duke, UVA, FSU, VPI, Miami, UNC, & UGA left on the schedule, what would be considered good enough progress for Key to be considered for the job? I figure 4 more wins and a bowl would definitely do it, but what about 3 more wins?

I feel sorry for anyone who would come here with our fans half will be against him at the start .

I'll be pulling for Key, but he is in an almost impossible situation. Let's see how it plays out, not in terms of w and L but improvement and competitiveness. As of now, Chadwell appears to be the man who can stabilize, build and operate at the top leadership level.

We're not any different than anywhere else. New coaches have to earn respect. Interwebs exaggerate minority opinions.

For all the fans that wanted to keep the option and hated that CPJ was leaving, Gef had one of the most well attended spring games in 2019 as I've ever seen.
