Great news. I feared the worst for some.

Hard to say who we missed the most but if Jordan Williams is on the O line instead of the S line, that disastrous sack/fumble doesn't happen and we win the damn game. We literally lost the game on that play.

Powell-Lee went out after the Louisville RB ran right over him on the long TD run.
Jordan Williams had his helmet and pads off earlier in the game after getting taken out and I swear he had them back on late in the game but didn't go back in.

Guy came from the left side. Jordan is playing right guard/right tackle. It wouldn't have mattered. Robinson went out, MacKenny went in, neither back up Jordan. We plugged Scaglione into Williams' spot at RG, put Leftwich at RT. Scaglione is not going to play LT. I don't think we're putting Leftwich back out there at LT either.
Besides, if Louisville defender doesn't commit a really dumb hold as King is running for his life, it would have been third and 20 instead of first and 10 on that drive. We got a break just to get down that close.
But it may go to show that all that OL depth folks thought we had going into the campaign ... maybe not so much right now.

Even if King doesn't fumble and we score, do you think the D was going to hold up against Louisville's offense?

Wouldn’t like our chances in a field goal duel.

The real killer was giving up the one play TD after the fumble. Hold them to zero or three points and it would have been a different game.

Again, do you think that would have happened? I don't. They were manhandling our defense. Like Fletch and the chief in the jail cell.
The 54-yard try was one of those low-percentage kicks. The 33-yarder Gavin missed was also a little bit hurt by the college hash marks - they're out wider than the NFL hashes. And he hit it right down the hashes. It was like he hit a pitching wedge straight when he needed to hit a 9-iron with a little more draw. Shoot, Butker missed a couple like that during his college days too.

Do I think what would happen? Hold them to a fg or less on a 74 yard drive? Yes, we did it on the subsequent drive. Take 4 away from them and they are 35. At 35, we don’t try for the 2pt conversion.

At that point they have 67 seconds to get to FG range. Maybe we get OT, maybe not. The fumble was unfortunate. The 1 play 74 yard TD was the kill shot.

I think Scaglione played well filling in for Williams. There was even some discussion right at the end of fall camp that those 2 were really close talent wise and that it was a true competition for that starting spot. Corey Robinson at LT however failed miserably and got yanked for true freshman MacKenny. MacKenny played LT the remainder of the game and was in for the sack/fumble.

Would we be better off with Williams at LT?

If Louisville defender doesn't commit that hold it's a TD because Singleton had him beat on a go route. King had time to make that throw.

Better than Robinson was at the beginning of the game? Absolutely. Better than MacKenny played when he came in? Probably not. Williams is much better suited to play G.
Did Robinson get hurt or was he simply replaced by McKenny?

I think he just got replaced because he was playing terrible. He never came back in though to see if he could get it going, and he had been talked about during camp as making big strides this offseason, so maybe he was playing hurt or something, idk.

How fast is Singleton? Lemme put it this way, he's about 7 months and 13 days younger than his twin.

Take all the time you need

Word on the street Robinson was taken out of the game for something not injury related and Williams did indeed suit back up but didn't go back in. He has been missing practices due to injury. I suspect any starter nursing injuries isn't going to play against SC State so they can be ready for the Rebs.

Wouldn't he be older?
No, he would be younger. If Singleton and his twin synced their watches this morning and Singleton runs around the block at speeds that only Singleton can, while his twin chills, then it will be 5:00 for the twin a tiny bit before it will be 5:00 for Singleton so Singleton (relative to his bro) is younger.
