Why? We won 5 last year with a numbnuts clown coach for 1st 4 games and a tougher schedule.

Based on the second half game plan, Key isn’t coaching to win; he is merely trying not to lose.

Discipline of players is better. Tacking is still piss poor. Execution is mediocre. Play calling is pedestrian.

How does that equate to being competitive and winning the ACC or beating Georgia?

Tackling has been bad for 20 to 30 years, even under Tenuta, though we had some really good defensive games, the overall tackling sucked then too. I disagree about Key, but we shall see.

Agree on tackling 100%. However, re-watch the game. 2nd half offense wasn't totally inept. Missed chip-shot FG and King fumble was the difference. We were in a position to win.

Some of the offensive play calling was suspect, but when King fumbled, the offense had been clicking again like in the second quarter. That was the play of the game, and despite what some jerks are posting, the only thing that King could have done to avoid it was to get rid of the ball sooner. But he was totally blindsided because the LT didn't maintain his block and really had no reason to dump the ball off.

Easy to forget positives after a loss. When is the last time we scored 4 legit offensive touchdowns in a single quarter against a decent team?
yeah great but 43 of the other 45 minutes were garbage.

28 in one quarter against Pitt in 2014
36 in 16 minutes against Miami in 2012
26 in one quarter against Georgia in 08

When Key took over last season he stated that he wasn’t going to coach not to lose when they had a lead, what happened to this plan?

No idea whether this is true or not, and I HOPE it is not, but I just heard that SylvainYondjouen may be out for the season after his injury Friday night. If that's true, then that's gonna hurt. Also heard, and I frankly don't buy this, that the reason for some of the plays called in the 2nd half was because of 2 true freshmen coming in because of the other injuries. True freshmen or not, they were recruited to PLAY, not sit out a year, and they SHOULD HAVE BEEN READY. Maybe they couldn't have had the impact that an upperclassman would have, but they should not be so unprepared as to have to change the offense because of them. And the fact that prior to King's sack and fumble, we had been moving the ball down the field like we did in the 2nd quarter.
