According to my Uncle (the good one on my dad's side who is a Tech alum/donor with connections) he said feelers were sent out for DC but ultimately not enough quality interest so Thacker is being given a "prove me right" type of year away from Clown Shoes to prove his metal.

Again, that could be way off, just what he heard.

Is it too early to blame the strength and conditioning coach?
not too early as they were spent in a very comfortable climate controlled environment. Wait until they are outside at daytime and we really see the problem.

Yeah we do. You can call JBatt and ask him why.
We face Colorado in a few years and it will be tough to see Sanders dancing around after crushing us as it seems like they would as the teams are now. Hopefully we can turn things around by then.

Wow - 1 game in and some of y'all are ready to give up. We just turned over a bunch of coaches, we have some young guys at key positions, and y'all are upset cause we look mediocre in our first game of the season? Get your minds rite.
We crashed and burned. Really bad display. Herd many people talking negatively about the state of GT football Saturday while I was at a really large tailgate event.

O line looked bad early
Looked great in second quarter
Reverted to former selves for first 28 minutes of second half
Singleton showed tremendous promise on last possession
But if King/Pyron/Gibson can’t get time to throw, there will be no deep passing game

Defense was … just not very good
Open receivers. Zero pressure on Plummer (with whom I was not overly impressed). Just awful tackling in space. And D line got manhandled most of the night
My biggest fears coming in were O line, receiver experience and everything except for safeties on D
Most of the fears remain

The third down play calling on the one drive that ended in the short field goal miss reeked of playing for a FG instead of going for a kill shot

In summation - we still have a very long way to go

precisely. he wont be there long term either way. if he bombs he's out. wins big he is gone.

i like deion but there is a part of me that doesnt trust him.

and you are also spot on that this portal NIL era is perfect for him.

If he wins and then leaves Colorado still comes out a winner. Better to be a team that wins big, generates a ton of interest, and has to look for a coach than a team that loses big, has zero interest, and has to a look for a coach.

Sometimes you are looking for a long term coach to build a dynasty. But sometimes you're just looking to turn your program around.

I think the reason for the loss is not all that complicated. Our DL needs huge improvement and was far and away the weakest unit on the team during the game. No sacks, no real QB hurries/disruptions and did not stop the run.

All the DL transfers after past two seasons really hurt.

I think you're right. We struggled to get stops, they got like 500 yards with pretty pedestrian skill players.

Keep in mind the context. We're rebuilding a team that went 4 years without a bowl, a brand new QB, key losses on both sides of the ball, etc. We're trying to build our way out of a bad state of football - miracles aren't realistic. We had several positives and were a missed field goal away from a win.

Soooo…before the game. When they were probably saying we were gonna get rolled?

Sounds like several pragmatists were at the tailgate.

Anyone who thought going into this season that GT would win more than 6 games was lying to themselves. It’s a rebuilding campaign. There have been positive changes but not anything to see that significant of an improvement.

Buckle up. There will be more heartache. As Tech fans you should be used to it.

Key is not the end all answer to fixing this troubled program.
An even worse and unexplainable loss was his coaching against UVA last season.

Lost Jordan Williams right before halftime. That hurt.
Not sure what to make of the D - I don’t think we have any serious personnel concerns but we lost our best 3 guys from last year.

Easy to forget positives after a loss. When is the last time we scored 4 legit offensive touchdowns in a single quarter against a decent team?
