Wow - 1 game in and some of y'all are ready to give up. We just turned over a bunch of coaches, we have some young guys at key positions, and y'all are upset cause we look mediocre in our first game of the season? Get your minds rite.

captain obvious but the strip sack was the play of the game ... subtract that, might have been different story. he needed more awareness there.
Not his fault. Numerous serious problems with this program.

We did kick off deep last night, but we sure couldn't kick gimme FGs, and, although I had left before the onsides kick and time ran out on my recording, I understand the onsides kick was terrible.
We did kick off well. We had problems with kick off returns early but seemed to correct that problem.

We need to give the other kicker a chance next week.

Maybe we couldn’t get some of Colorado’s players into Tech. It is always an issue when we can take maybe 10% of the kids coming out of hs.

We can "take" the majority of players coming out of high school. We may be more limited than most schools, but it's some crazy hyperbole to suggest our pool of prospects is that small. I'd say getting players who want to deal with the added workload of more rigorous courses is the bigger issue, especially if they're *also* weighing us against currently superior football programs. If they want to be here, most can make it in and retain their eligibility.

Hard not to be impressed with what Colorado did. I don't think it suddenly means they're going to be a powerhouse, and I'd say the odds are more likely that Deion leaves for a mammoth deal somewhere like A&M in 3-4 years than it is that he builds a long-term winner at Colorado, but it's still impressive.

He got into college coaching at the perfect time, really. Before the portal, there was no feasible way to basically completely overhaul a football roster in one off-season. If there had been, Saban would have done it when he got to Bama.

precisely. he wont be there long term either way. if he bombs he's out. wins big he is gone.

i like deion but there is a part of me that doesnt trust him.

and you are also spot on that this portal NIL era is perfect for him.

It was an exciting game. You'd think Tech fans would be all for the underdog but some seem to hate Sanders and want him to fail so they feel better about themselves.

You are missing out.

You just described every coach not at a football factory.

Let me know how that works out. Better come at him with a check, though.

Problem you'll face, it's not money that's needed. It's for our football players to stop being prima donnas and just play aggressively rather than trying to make a highlight reel out of every play.
So says Bobby Bowden.

I don’t see anyone giving up. I’ve always said for me this season is about looking competent and not necessarily wins and losses. We succeeded in that. But we also choked away that game and our coaches turned a win into a loss. That is very discouraging.

I think the reason for the loss is not all that complicated. Our DL needs huge improvement and was far and away the weakest unit on the team during the game. No sacks, no real QB hurries/disruptions and did not stop the run.
Continuing what is actually a multi-decade BAD trend at Tech, our players on D cannot tackle.
