Kelly's D allowed way over 500+ yards and 40+ points against an offense with 3 returning starters and a new OC?! Colorado looked good but that defense sucked.
The "new" OC is the son of the inventor of said offense that is crushing college football right now. The PC term is the "Veer & Shoot," but we all know it's the Briles offense.

I was really referring to that last series, so fair enough, you are right. Still too bad CPJ wouldn’t make him a perm DC. A mistake in my learned opinion.

Because we are coming off the worst stretch of GT football ever, worse than ‘92-‘94. We fans care about and focus on the program, but if you don’t have an emotional investment in GT, you just have no interest in a program that loses.

Winning is the only cure, consistent winning over a stretch of multiple seasons. Winning games like last night are important, but GT historically drops the ball when they have the national stage. The Clown Years have set this program back more than the 3O.

But ….from the smarter poster than me…. “The "new" OC is the son of the inventor of said offense that is crushing college football right now. The PC term is the "Veer & Shoot," but we all know it's the Briles offense.”

I could not say it better thanks To that poster author

CPJ wanted to hire him but FSU came in and offered him more than what GT could. Not PJ’s fault. That’s why we ended up with Roof again.

Didn't we make Roof the highest paid DC in the conference other than Venables though?

Roof’s standard-raising contract, which will challenge an athletic department budget scheduled to run a net loss of $1.7 million this fiscal year, is part of the cost of doing business. While Roof’s contract is second in the league, Florida State’s Jeremy Pruitt ($542,000 annually) and Virginia’s Jon Tenuta ($500,000) are not far behind. At Georgia, defensive coordinator Todd Grantham is earning $825,000 annually.

What am I missing? Kicker should be the easiest position for us to recruit. Yet we consistently have below average kickers.

The rare periods when we have a good kicker (Butker, Sisson, etc,) correlate with our better teams. We have lost too many games because we cannot make field goals and/or kick off deep.

You're welcome

Maybe we couldn’t get some of Colorado’s players into Tech. It is always an issue when we can take maybe 10% of the kids coming out of hs.

That's nice; but it was 3 years later. FSU hired Kelly as a linebackers coach when he left GT, not a DC.
I heard there were some family health things at the time too.

I thought Louisville played really well except for QB. We had them completely flat footed in the 2Q through creative play calling and O line execution. We lost the creativity a bit, but we did have two scoring drives going in the second half that fizzled with a missed 32 hard FG and the red zone turnover. Ultimately the strip sack killed us and was in my opinion an avoidable situation with a little more awareness on the part of King or a little bit better blocking by the line.
No drives, just UL penalties that kept our defense off the field a bit longer

You wait until that Sims guy goes up against Prime Time next week. Prime Time’s head will be spinning from this guys ability to read defenses.
Honestly it would not surprise me too see a wtf game from Sims next week.
