The reality is this. You win and lose along the LOS on both sides of the ball. GT has lacked a great OL since probably 2016, and in reality GT has always had (regardless of HC) a hard time getting top level DL talent.

If you have a solid OL the offense always looks like a well oiled machine. Same on D with a sold DL. You can see the programs who have both pieces annually. Michigan, tOSU, Alabama, Clemson, uga, etc.

Overall the team on offense at the skill positions has really good talent and speed. UofL is a good team, and the game could have gone either way.

GT has 6-7 winnable games left, and that doesn’t include UNC who GT somehow has owned during this down period. The game at Wake in 3 weeks is really going to set the table for the remainder of the season. 2-2 after 4 games gives GT real shot at 6-7 wins, a loss at Wake spells a 5-6 win season.
Actually, this game set the season up for the remainder

It's time to flush this game and move on. It's over. Time to flip the page to SC State.

If you had seen the second quarter, it makes more sense what they were trying to do in the second half. Runs up the gut got us going in the 2q. Unfortunately we could not find a way to replicate that in the second half against a changed defense.
But what about all of the pre-game talk that their new coach was going to be a liability while our new coach was going to make us great?

I had one of the ladies that went with us almost refused entrance for a “bag” that was maybe a half inch larger than a postcard. Then I got in there and saw people carrying around non-see through backpacks. I remember times when it was cold and sneaking a case of beer into bds. What a world.
The staff at the Benz are consistent in their complete inconsistency. We were prevented from getting to Jacket walk because the players would be coming though there, and the player didn't come closer than 100 yards from where we wanted to go in order to see them.

What am I missing? Kicker should be the easiest position for us to recruit. Yet we consistently have below average kickers.

The rare periods when we have a good kicker (Butker, Sisson, etc,) correlate with our better teams. We have lost too many games because we cannot make field goals and/or kick off deep.
We did kick off deep last night, but we sure couldn't kick gimme FGs, and, although I had left before the onsides kick and time ran out on my recording, I understand the onsides kick was terrible.

2). we need a pass rush against a throwing offense. Blitz are coming, etc.
3) Kennard still refuses to control his edge.. but he did well on the option.
4) losing two OL was a killer last night. I do not think we overcome this by Ole Miss or Wake. Our season’s goal are at major risk.
5) I agree that either the head coach decided to just hang on or our playcalling seemed weak in the third and fourth qtr. It will get better.
6) UL didn’t put a big rush on us, they played back and said “ beat us”. We couldn’t.
7) For sixty years I have been saying “recruit more linemen!” Our OL is in we trouble now.
8) 23 yard missed kick…
9) first down, driving…our qb decided to look around for four seconds… killer.
10) But we had few penalties, seemed would well coached.
12) Our WR’s all are small. #13 is playing this year.
14) For an offense that we would expect to throw to the TE, they disappeared after the first qtr.
15) I assumed Haynes went to RB so we could dish the ball to a back. Never happened. He ran a lot, in the second half he was one armed tacked frequently… not good.. change the plays.
16) Fans left, almost missed a douzy. Guys fought to the end!

It’s like playing for a college football team is some sort of sugar daddy and sugar baby arrangement.

Besides our QB, did we ever run to the edges? Seems the RPO was RB between the tackles or King keeping. UL adjusted to Kings key reads as they bunched the box as well. Nice long passing by King led to our 2nd quarter breakout. That was a change nice to see.
Tatum brought some pain but our LB's seemed to get themselves knocked out of play-alot.

I don't remember who it was, or if there was more than one who did it, but we had at least one long sideline-edging run in the 2nd quarter.

Kelly's D allowed way over 500+ yards and 40+ points against an offense with 3 returning starters and a new OC?! Colorado looked good but that defense sucked.
But ….from the smarter poster than me…. “The "new" OC is the son of the inventor of said offense that is crushing college football right now. The PC term is the "Veer & Shoot," but we all know it's the Briles offense.”

I could not say it better than
