Ah,that makes sense. I guess that's why they have charts for these decisionsIt forced us to make the extra point to go ahead. Not a huge advantage but it was something.

I was curious about the going for 2 thing too. I realize it forced us to make the XP, but that is a high percentage play already. I don't know what the "book" says, but I think they should have kicked the XP. If they had failed the 2pt conversion it would be 27-23. A td+xp by us makes it 27-30 and the best they could have done at the end was try a FG to force OT instead of for the win.

404!!!+1. Games like these last two really build that lifelong desire to come back and relive it. Key has already delivered a few of those in his short tenure.
The Clownins era was defined by the opposite of that. Humiliation and embarrassment. Who wants more of that?
Isn't the introduction to chairbacks in the whole stadium going to reduce the capacity by a few thousand they say?
The running game was not in sync in general. We are allowed to have bad games. It’s not as if the running game improved with Philo handing it off and “keeping them honest”. I guess I’m just saying: I don’t think King was the problem in the run game.We did nothing with King in at QB last night.
King - 8 carries, 22 yards. Haynes - 13 carries, 36 yards.
King passing: 3-3, 7 yards. Barely two yards a completion.
And before Philo's scrambles on the last drive, we had 77 yards on 33 rushing attempts as a team.
As for the last point, when there are only two options to defend, it makes it a lot easier for the defense. Especially one as fast as the one we'll see next Friday. Even with the old offense, there was a threat we might go play action and go deep. There is no such threat now with King.
I didn't understand that either. Can anyone explain to me how going for a 2pt conversion helped NCState? We would have needed a TD either way, and even without that extra extra point, they would have won if they kicked the FG
Why go for 2?
I was wondering if he missed seeing him at first or was angry because he wasn’t able to make the throw. Hard to tell.In all the discussion about Philo throwing into tight windows, did anyone notice HK completely missing a WIDE OPEN Hawes with nothing but green grass between him and the EZ? I forget which qtr it was but as soon as he let the ball go (to somebody else for like a yard or something), he saw Hawes and lost his marbles he was so pissed he missed it.
I heard that he will have surgery after the season. No idea if that is actually the case or not.I have no idea what the exact nature of King's shoulder injury is, but if he needs surgery, and if it's something that takes forever to heal (2 big ifs), would he still come back to Tech next year? Many questions to be answered after the bowl game.
It's not just the students who make the noise. The remaining faithful who are there every week, scream our heads off too. Even a Georgia fan from my church I brought with me was screaming.I will say that, while the stands obviously had empty seats near the top, it sounded loud on the broadcast. Probably credit, again, goes to the student section. They've been showing up all season.

Yes. The missed TE was extremely costly on multiple fronts.First quarter. Maybe the first drive? And that same drive both Singleton and Rutherford got hurt on back to back plays I believe.
Miami and NC State were the first games in a while where everybody (in lower east, but it looked like in lower west as well) was standing up for the whole game. Games that matter and people care about are fun, it turns out.I will say that, while the stands obviously had empty seats near the top, it sounded loud on the broadcast. Yeah. It was like 3rd play of the game or something.First quarter. Maybe the first drive? And that same drive both Singleton and Rutherford got hurt on back to back plays I believe.
The book says it's basically a wash (2.9 vs 3.1 win probability added - see 538's Analytical Breakdown) so it comes down to whether Doeren had more faith in his offense converting their 2PT or in his defense stopping our attempt.
