Post NCsu game thread

We must have watched different games. They ran it 11 time for 55 yards in the 1st half. One was the 16yd TD on a QB scramble, and another was a 15yd run by their RB where Zeek missed a tackle in the backfield. Their QB was their leading rusher with 83 yards and zero of those were designed runs. They weren't exactly gashing us with their run game.
You were watching the actual game. There was no evidence to suggest their run game would beat us in the first half.

Ahh, what a view!

Never should have built the upper north. I would say we should even consider tarping it off.

That's embarrassing and doesn't look good, but I think it would be worth it to have the upper decks along the sidelines filled. Because having them look like this on senior night also doesn't look good.

I hate how much our attendance has dropped off. I guess we started losing people at the tail end of CPJ, then Clown and Covid really killed it. A lot of the older folks and people who jumped on during the first half of CPJ just said forget it and never came back.

I’m encouraged by the way the students have been showing up - hopefully we’re back to breeding future generations of Tech fans again, if we can just keep our heads above water or better for a few years.

Students attendance is key. It feeds the future. The south endzone was basically empty for a decade.

Can anyone explain to me how going for a 2pt conversion helped NCState? We would have needed a TD either way, and even without that extra extra point, they would have won if they kicked the FG

Why go for 2?

If they had one less point and we went for 2 after our last TD, then a FG would of only tied it I think? Not saying they were thinking such mental gymnastics, but it's what came to mind.

In the unlikely event that happened and we drive down the field in 1:30 and score. It takes an XP for us to take the lead vs just the TD itself. I don’t think them getting into FG range after was any part of the equation, but with the way that game went it probably should have been. If they missed the 2, then that 58 yarder was for OT instead

It forced us to make the extra point to go ahead. Not a huge advantage but it was something.

Rewatched the game sober this afternoon. The tackling was pretty lousy, and did we just not notice that QB was gashing us all night long with his feet? Good on Philo for that final drive. Maybe HK realizes it's just cuz he's hurt, but I'm thinking he'll transfer now. Hope not, I really like how he plays the game.

I was curious about the going for 2 thing too. I realize it forced us to make the XP, but that is a high percentage play already. I don't know what the "book" says, but I think they should have kicked the XP. If they had failed the 2pt conversion it would be 27-23. A td+xp by us makes it 27-30 and the best they could have done at the end was try a FG to force OT instead of for the win.

+1. Games like these last two really build that lifelong desire to come back and relive it. Key has already delivered a few of those in his short tenure.

The Clownins era was defined by the opposite of that. Humiliation and embarrassment. Who wants more of that?

The way Faulkner limited the play calls when King was in over the last couple of games, his shoulder has to be stopping him from throwing downfield. I would not think that Philo would beat him out in a competition, but if he does then I would understand King transferring. I just don't think that's very likely and King knows he's hurt. I'm just glad we have at least two great quarterbacks.

GT should probably reduce down to 50,000. Probably a much better number overall, considering lesser games don’t get but around 40-45k.

Utah holds roughly 50,000, and with the way Rice-Eccles is built, is one of the loudest CFB stadiums I’ve been to.

Why would HK transfer at this point? Outside of a bigger P4 school like an Oregon who only needs a QB to plug & play offering $$$, HK is without question the best QB at GT when healthy. His starter status is in no way of being in jeopardy. CBK has made that clear with his praise of HK.

Isn't the introduction to chairbacks in the whole stadium going to reduce the capacity by a few thousand they say?

As for King vs Philo and not being able to run King out for some option heavy looks, I call bullshit. We can and do run effectively with King and he has thrown the ball. While he shouldn’t be in the game as a starter there is nothing wrong with occasionally running the ball when there is a strong belief you’re going to run the ball. We did it for 10 years.
We did nothing with King in at QB last night.
King - 8 carries, 22 yards. Haynes - 13 carries, 36 yards.
King passing: 3-3, 7 yards. Barely two yards a completion.
And before Philo's scrambles on the last drive, we had 77 yards on 33 rushing attempts as a team.

As for the last point, when there are only two options to defend, it makes it a lot easier for the defense. Especially one as fast as the one we'll see next Friday. Even with the old offense, there was a threat we might go play action and go deep. There is no such threat now with King.

You obviously have a hard time understanding reality. So I’ll clarify again.

2023: Colorado won 4 games vs teams who did not finish with a winning record.
2024: Colorado has beaten the following with a chance at 7+ wins:
Colorado State - 7-3
Baylor - 6-4
Texas Tech - 6-4

Now they have 4-6 Kansas and 3-7 Oklahoma State left.

Wow. What a hard schedule. Lol

Flip side, GT has beaten Duke, Miami, UNC who are all guarantees to win 7+ games.
Wrong thread buddy

Keep your CU love out of here

I have no idea what the exact nature of King's shoulder injury is, but if he needs surgery, and if it's something that takes forever to heal (2 big ifs), would he still come back to Tech next year? Many questions to be answered after the bowl game.
