post practice presser

I think Quon deserves a pass considering it's his first year as QB at the P5 college level. He has had some huge runs for us. He is still making some errors on the option when he should have made the pitch, but he's not the first QB running the option that has done this and he won't be the last. His passing has been very inconsistent but what college QB completes over 50% of his passes when 40 yard pass plays are designed? One, you have to have the time to complete it and two, the timing has to be there. I am glad we have another year with this competitive kid or the QB that comes out of practice and can beat him out.

If Quon beats UGA this year we should build a statue of him made out of encapsulated dwag tears. This would be a glorious year to rip their heart out.

Lots of good comments in here. Look, I actually think we're fairly close to being a good team. We're bringing back a lot on offense. We need to replace a bunch of DBs, but our recruiting in that area has been promising and I think we have some prospects waiting in the wings. We might be better at LB next year than we have been in years. The recruiting is *decent*....if we could just pepper each class with a couple of studs like we used to do....i really think we would have enough to work with. We haven't had much luck landing high profile guys lately, and we all have our opinions as to why.

Someone is going to win the a heated QB competition next year, and that player that emerges will be all the better for it. I leave that to coach - i KNOW he will pick the best one, he pretty much always does. Yes, I'm frustrated to not get to see a little Lucas or Jay when things have gone so sour, but that's fan speak. I do realize I'm not well positioned to have that opinion, not getting to see practice, not getting to look in their eyes each day.

I think Jerry Howard is nearly as good as Mills, and we'll have a solid group returning at AB. I thought Qua and Clinton were seniors but they should be back for one more go-round. The AB's are doing fairly well but aren't getting the chance to shine because the distribution has been so poor. When we get it pitched we are ripping off big chunks.

We NEED, have got to have, would kill to have, a legit WR. Another Smelter. Please. someone. step up

We have a punchers chance against UGA, we really do. We can land some big blows, we can take the football away, we can strike quickly. Or we can throw wobbly pick 6's and concede 40 yards on every kickoff return. I'm going to watch the game through a small slit between my fingers for self protection.

Smelter was a great receiver who played a huge role in our run in 2014. Losing him during COFH, and hence not having him during the ACCCG, was a huge factor (IMHO) in the close loss to FSU.

That said, most of the incompletions I've seen this year have been on TQM, not the receivers. How many times have you seen a wide open WR stop running his route, wait for the ball to float down to earth, and end up battling one or two DB's who've had time to make a play?

Our kick off coverage is probably at the same level as last year. Last year they never had to do anything because the kickoff went into the end zone.
Given the number of explosive A and B backs we have had, why have we never had an outstanding kick returner.
Given the complexity of this offense, we need to start with a redshirt freshman quarterback every four years to minimize the number of seasons lost to the QB learning curve.

Marshall should still be a A back. He is not a good passer and he wants to carry the ball on every play. This is more pronounced on the goal line. We should have gone with Lucas Johnson this season. Look at his passing stats from high school in California, The record could not have been much worse, we would have three more years with him at QB and he is big enough to run the mid-line and throw out of the pocket. He was the starting QB for the North squad in 2016 Blue-Grey All-American Bowl in Tampa. I hope he gets a chance Saturday.

Around 6 lately. Remember how many yards and how good Lynch and Searcy were last season?

I’ve been thinking this all year, so I did some analysis this week. Runs per game average:

QB: 23
BB: 22
A Backs: 10!!!

So Marshall and Benson are running it 45 times per game, and our A Backs average about 2.5 each (among the main 4). Plus, 3-5 of those touches per game have to be the called toss sweep... so you’re spot on, we may literally be seeing only 6 legitimate reads pitched to the A Backs per game. Which is a travesty considering Searcy and Lynch averaged double digits every touch last year!!!

WE ARE A DOUBLE OPTION OFFENSE

Throwing his players under the bus yet again! Blames everyone but himself!
Pretty obvious he was taking responsibility by saying that's a reflection on him and his staff. How do you get "throwing his players under the bus" from that statement?

For the life of me I'll never understand these kinds of posts. CPJ has seen hundreds and hundreds of snaps from all these QB's. He's seen what Lucas Johnson can do in all facets of the game, and his conclusion is that TQM is playing at a higher level right now. Why do you doubt that? CPJ has worlds more experience and incentive to get this right than we fans do.

Because our coach is hard headed and hates to admit he's wrong. He even said several games ago he considered pulling Marshall, can't remember which game. Until a player plays in a game, you can't tell if he's a gamer or not. Hell, I admit I was on the basketball team because I looked damn good in tryouts and practice. Never had any huge games. We have not seen Lucas in a real game situation. One series of mop up against JSU or whoever doesn't show jack squat.
