I called Comcast XFINITY and told the woman I spoke with, who was located in Michigan, that I was cancelling my subscription, because they were charging me $260 per month for hundreds of channels I never watch, plus carrying the networks of other college sports conferences, while stubbornly refusing to add the one channel that I wanted the most as a Georgia Tech fan, the ACC Network.
A minute later, she called me back and told me not to cancel yet, because she was checking with her supervisors, who said Comcast XFINITY was deciding today whether or not to add the ACC Network. She said that she would call me back today with more information.
This was the most concerned Comcast XFINITY has ever sounded about any complaint that I have ever made to them. I feel like they are feeling the heat about not carrying the ACC Network. I think all Tech and ACC fans should bombard Comcast XFINITY today, saying we will cancel our Comcast XFINITY accounts, unless the ACC Network is added before August 22.
Even if you have done this before, do it again today. Because, from my conversation with them today, I think Comcast XFINITY is at the breaking point. I think that, for the first time, they realize they are going to take a big hit, if they don't add the ACC Network. I think they finally realize that a lot of their subscribers are ardent fans of ACC teams, like Georgia Tech, and that Comcast XFINITY's decision about whether or not they carry the ACC Network will decide whether they keep or lose a lot of high paying customers.
Even the lady I talked with said, "That channel doesn't start until August 22." Comcast XFINITY knows exactly what's going on. They don't want to lose our business, but they just bought the "SEC is all that matters in the South" Kool Aid and decided they could get away with not carrying the ACC Network, without losing enough customers to matter to them.
If we put a lot of pressure on them today, they may decide to add the ACC Network. At least that's the impression I got today. It was very different from talking with them in the past. They couldn't care less about us, but they care a lot about themselves. I think they're beginning to see that we can do without them, but they will be hurt badly by losing us. That is the tipping point for them. Pour it on!
