At this point Coach P has proved ZERO on how to put a good Offense together.I had no expectations and he under-delivered last yr..

Considering the Miami, UGa, Pitt, and UVa games last year, it appeared the Pat strategy is to attack the perceived strength of a defense. It worked with Miami by showing how slow their LB were at reacting to the OL shifting and letting Mason pick a hole to run through. Then for Pitt and UVa he went after their DL and we got killed. Back to holding blocks and letting JM pick a gap against UGa, but their LB filled the gaps to quickly.

I think his O style is built on being unpredictable. We’ll see this year and probably next if he can make that work when we have a bigger play set.

I think we will be much better on offense this season. The only thing we could have done last season with the personnel we had available was to continue the triple option, and that was not an option. We needed to start evolving to the new system, even if it meant taking our lumps. That way, you can show recruits what type of offense they are committing to.
If we had come out running the option last season, we probably don't get the big freshman Williams at OL or QB Sims or several other players. It looked rough last season, but there is a pathway.

This post makes way too much sense and is unlike you. Stop it!

I use JJacket alt in the football forum.
Not to bring politics into it, but I would push Biden from the top of the upper north for a natty. I'd vote for Trump (or essentially anyone) if it meant a GT Alabama-esque domination of college football.

Well said.

I agree, but only to a point. I think an option based offense would have been required to win more games, but there are plenty to choose from that aren’t flexbone or under center. We could have run a Meyers shotgun spread, or Rich Rod’s shotgun spread, or tge pistol they ran at Nevada (and later the 49ers).

I agree that would have been a bandaid and slowed the transition. We probably could have won more games with the same O run with TO rarely throwing.

I’ll give Pat another year. No one was going to impress last year that wasn’t an option guru.

running last year's offense was not "an option".

i see what you did there....!!!

yep, I saw that somewhere also. How did he get to be a TE coach from QB.?
Because he’s a football coach. Just because he played and coached QB doesn’t mean that’s all he knows. Most coaches bounce around in terms of their responsibilities. I mean PJ was a DC at one point in his career iirc.

The "Goose is Loose" video shows his ability to run before his knee problems.

(p.s. I am physically challenged hitting the golf ball but shot a sweet little 73 on Sunday in my tournament. Hit four greens in regulation....It's about performing, not how long you hit it off the tee!)
But you were playing putt putt...
