Can we please stop using "physically challenged" or anything else to describe a player. Joe Hamilton was "physically challenged"......It's really about performing on the field. Unless they are trying to get rid of Yates, Coach P shouldn't say anything similar either. (p.s. I am physically challenged hitting the golf ball but shot a sweet little 73 on Sunday in my tournament. Hit four greens in regulation....It's about performing, not how long you hit it off the tee!)
Agreed. Emphatically. To say that an athlete on scholly at a P5 school is physically challenged is just nuts.

What did you shoot on the back nine?

I don't think anyone was saying any player is "physically challenged." KQ's quote was that Yates isn't as physically gifted as the guys he is competing against, which seems relevant to this discussion.

Coach P has repeatedly referred to his height as an impediment. I have repeatedly expressed my objection to that characterization. If I'm a coach (and there are a multitude of reasons why I'm not) then I think the very last thing I would do is tell one of my athletes that he is at a physical disadvantage. I just can not emphasize enough why no one on our staff should be making implicitly negative references to his height. That is the opposite of good coaching.

KQ can say whatever the heck he wants - he's not paid by GT - he's a reporter so while I have the same problem with KQ, I can't hold it against him - his job is to report and opine so he gets a pass. Coach P does not get a pass. Coach P, if I were head coach, would get a visit to my office and a refresher on not telling my guys why they will fail at their job.

Maybe they realize he is not going to be the starter and they are encouraging him to consider DB or WR where his size would not be an issue.

I understand but would probably have that conversation in private rather than say as much during a press conference and assume TJ will figure it out from that. I dunno - maybe I'm making too much of this but it just seems weird.

FTFY.

Yates will play QB here or elsewhere, IMO. I don't see him as a position change candidate whatsoever. He isn't the typical CPJ QB (in the sense that he is not an ATH playing QB), which is why a lot of people were suprised he wanted to come here. Not saying Yates will or should win the job here, but he is a QB.

you shot 73 and only hit 4 GIR?

Just two observations: JG wasn't recruited as a QB by anyone but us - a coveted athlete but not a coveted QB. Not sure how to interpret the Godsey assessment but I can tell you this: back then, the football team had a thing whereby each player had to run for 12 minutes. The challenge was who could run for the most distance over that 12 minutes. Answer - out of 85+ athletes - think back to our roster at the time - Godsey won first place. Kid was way underrated as an athlete.

Bottom line: you just never know.
Really? With his knees? Wow.

Just in case FSU is watching, I won't share my breaking news that Oliver has been secretly practicing at quarterback, and we are going back to the 3O for this one game.
That's funny but I'm not sure that it wouldn't work as well.JMason would be a TERROR as bback now.

At this point Coach P has proved ZERO on how to put a good Offense together.I had no expectations and he under-delivered last yr..

The downside to this yr is that we need to show SOME improvement or all the possible cheap talk is just that.

That’s like 23 total putts barring any hole outs
Yes, no chip ins. I used to be a ball striker when younger and at a eight handicap shot 77 and had 43 putts once. I dropped to a four pretty quickly when taking the short game more seriously. Peaked at two. A few years ago I needed shoulder surgery and maintained my four handicap for a year averaging less than two greens hit in regulation. You have to know where to leave your shots of course. Anyway, this was about Yates. I saw something in him and hope he can rise up.

Godsey was recruited by pro baseball teams, all district in basketball , and all state in football according to his response once upon a time when his athleticism was questioned. I believe he asked "How athletic do they want me to be?" .

Anyone know what he's doing these days?

You only hit four greens in regulation but shot a 73? Was this a Par 3 tournament?

EDIT: See I'm like the fifth person to note this. Nvmnd.
