Replacement

We had interest when we hired CPJ, too, notably Cutcliffe. It's becoming associated with the option and Bobinski's mismanagement that made this an unattractive job.

When was it that Dave Braine said we were a 7 win program and everyone lost it?

Besides going back to the option, I feel like we could get some mileage out of going the KU route and hiring a downtrodden big name in the same vein as a Charlie Weis, Les Miles, etc. Feels like there could be some synergy there, the biggest thing we lack right now is any serious football street cred.

I unironically think Bielema could've worked

Anyone who provides us with a. Unique identity we can build on will work here. Work being the important term to define.

Bohannon or monken would be my pick. I think they've shown themselves more willing to adapt to the flash the players want now, but have a solid enough understanding of the x and os to not leave us blind on GameDay.

Since we apparently don't mind about egregious buyouts, I say Randy Edsall so we can afford to pay, what, three coaches to not coach here? Randy is hanging it up after this year and will probably be pretty cheap.

“Georgia Tech can win nine or 10 games, (but it) will never do that consistently.” - 2005.

Chan Gailey was fired 2 years later averaging ~8 wins a year with a top 20 recruiting class.

Dave Braine is still wrong regardless of what the last half-decade has wrought. Personally I feel like much of our trouble stems from the neglect of Bobinski, and the competence of our current leadership over the last 4 years is extremely questionable. Saying "oh well this is just Georgia Tech" is garbage. This is a complete cratering of the program and the worst stretch we have had in decades. It's sad.

We were going to win 2008 anyway and probably 2009

I will take two 3 win seasons for one 11 win season every 4 years. four years of 7-8 wins is bullshit.

I was livid at Braine then and I am still now, but how is Johnson’s tenure not a fulfillment of that statement?

Adjusting for the 13 game schedule and the annual FCS games that didn’t exist back then he pulled off the 9 or more wins twice in 11 years.

Should have won at least two of three of 2004, 2005, 2006. The gaggers were gifted a TD against Reggie. We finally had a pro style QB headed to GT in Renfree (6'5", 225, career 65% completion rate at ööööing Duke) with a helluva defense and Demaryous Thomas, Greg Smith, Colin Peek taking TE spot, Dwyer at RB, your bitch ass can laugh all you want, but after being saddled with flunkgate, we recruited pro athletes and had finally recruited a pro style QB.

I believe this is a more desirable job than folks on this board realize, last hiring cycle withstanding. We’re a P5 program located in the biggest college football city in America with a trophy case that two-thirds of D1 programs would kill for (e.g. TA&M, Okie State, Arkansas, UNC, VT, all the west coast teams sans USC, and even UGA). I travel for work and am always encouraged to see the level of name recognition GT has nationally.

CGC’s optimism and vision is correct, he’s just proven incredibly inept on game day. Agree he needs to embrace the CEO model and get some top tier coordinators in a hurry or it will be curtains for him. CPJ ran circles around Clemson for the first 5 years until Dabo figured it out.

We can compete for championships again and should settle for nothing less.

The CEO model is exactly what Dabo Swinney is.
