Sims + Clayton

Wasn’t Parker Braun’s transfer due to coaching change? I know it wasn’t so he could stay in the same offense, Texas sure as hell doesn’t run the triple option/flex bone/spread option. He got immediate playing time...

More likely it comes out that we weren’t actually supposed to tell them that they were ineligible for 2019. So theyre out for 2020 too.

Why in heavens name would the ncaa respond to a coach asking questions about why a S/A from not his school was granted eligibility at another school?
 
We all wish they got the ruling in their favor. Especially Clayton.

But did the NCAA “Hate” us when Lucas got his 6th year?

The basketball players that were given immediate eligibility over the past few years?

I wish this grade school “everybody hates us” whining would stop and we could solve the problem ( if there is one) of why other schools are more competent at this.

Factories - b.s. Or maybe man up with $ and become a “factory” or stop whining.
 
Honestly there is a better chance (IMO that counts for nothing for most people) on appeal approval than the original ncaa staff waiver approval. NCAA staff are bound by Regs specific to the type waiver. Clayton was trying for family medical/illness and there is a black and white 100 mile limit to the affected family member home. That is not the case with him. However on appeal, the 7 member committee has every right to make adjustments and exceptions to those rules. Will be interesting
As far as martell he filed for standard waiver that only is bound by honestly vague “The transfer is due to documented mitigating circumstances that are outside the student-athlete’s control and directly impact...well-being of the student-athlete” which was pushed by his attorney and the appeal committee granted it.
Fingers crossed, but appeal at least gives the latitude for exceptions to be made. Will be interesting to see.
 
:facepalm: time to update my ncaa football 2008 created rosters. Had all three of these guys on the depth chart.

Thanks for finding that info. Of course, if Clayton's case came down simply to the 100 mile rule, you'd think they would have denied it quickly. Maybe they just sat on it for months.
 
I'm sure it's all part of an interconnected web of reasoning and it took so long because they're weighing the likelihood of appeals based on "but you approved that guy". None of these cases are being reviewed individually, but rather collectively to optimize playtime for touted QB's who draw viewers while trying to prevent free agency for everyone else.

I look forward to the day when players can get paid a stipend. It'll probably involve universities defecting from the NCAA and the best players immediately following along for the $.

The thing with Clayton though is there is NO Div1 NCAA school within that 100 mile radius of his home. He moved to the closest one to home.

FB and BB already get stipends based on reasonable expenses or some junk. 2-5K a semester i believe. Started 2015 I think.
