Sims

Wasn’t it the uva game? Game on the line and he refused to go in? Potentially cost us a bowl game
Even worse. You refused to go in against UVA.

It had to be humiliating for his dad to have to sit up there with other parents, whom you have gotten to know over several seasons, and watch your son just quit when their sons needed him. Their kid out their busting ass and snowflake quits.

Talk about a lawsuit waiting to happen. Also this would mean the NCAA recognizing pay for play which they are doing everything possible to avoid.
This is a good point, IMO. If his NIL were revoked for not playing it would pretty much nail down pay for play instead of a stipend for use of name, image, and/or likeness.

At a minimum, he should have been sent to the locker room and kicked off the team.
I feel really bad for his parents, having to sit with other parents and see him quit on the team during a game, especially since he's getting paid

Key, occupied at the time, IIRC just waited til Monday or so to do this. My timing may be off, but in the end, he "retired" for the season, then "portalled out."

He’s an athlete but not a QB.
I think he could be a top notch QB if he were coached well and put in a system that was run effectively. The QB's looked wholly different after Key took over, for some reason (with the exception of the UVA game). Clearly, the quick changes that were made worked.

The top 6 games for total O were:
VPI - 463 (CBK)
UCF - 438 (CGC)
Dook - 412 (CBK)
UNC - 373 (CBK)
Miami - 363 (CBK)
WCU - 343 (CGC)

The top 6 games for passing O were:
UCF - 314 (CGC)
VPI - 253 (CBK)
Miami - 234 (CBK)
Dook - 232 (CBK)
UGAG - 215 (CBK)
FSU - 198 (CBK)

The top 6 games for rushing O were:
WCU - 243 (CGC)
Pitt - 232 (CBK)
VPI - 210 (CBK)
UNC - 186 (CBK)
Dook - 180 (CBK)
Miami - 129 (CBK)

The top 6 scoring games were:
WCU - 35 (CGC)
VPI - 28 (CBK)
Pitt - 26 (CBK)
Dook - 23 (CBK)
UNC - 21 (CBK)
FSU - 16 (CBK)

My buddy in Omaha who went to the Nebraska spring game told me that Nebraska is paper thin along the OL so Sims is in for a big surprise when those B1G defensive lines (Michigan, Wisconsin, Maryland, Michigan St. and Iowa) blow up Nebraska's OL. I mean you would think he would have checked that first.

How much source do you need? Key saying no comment 87 times in the presser when asked why a medically cleared Sims refused to take the field even as his own father was telling him to not sufficient?

Didn't Key also receive a text from his family literally during the press conference...."they disagree with me"...or WTTE?

I thought it was from the admin. But yes, that definitely happened, it was like two minutes after he said it.

Ok. I could be wrong on who “they” was. But it was weird to see that in a coach’s presser. Happened just as you describe.

If you refuse to play, you’re diminishing the value of your NIL. You’d probably want to also include a conduct clause for the same reason.

Yes, that's what pay for play is -- the player's value is linked directly to his playing.

But as soon as the NCAA recognizes that offiically, or says it's within the rules to make a player's pay contingent upon him actually playing football, it becomes impossible for them to make an argument that the schools aren't engaging in illegal price fixing by collectively agreeing not to pay their players directly. Their entire argument rests on the fact that the players are not workers who are playing football for money, but rather amateurs, and the NIL pay is incidental to the act of them playing football.

Obviously everyone knows that's not true, but they want to cling to it as long as possible to try to prevent schools from having to pay players directly.

I'm pretty sure that was a reporter's phone on the table recording audio, and a notification came through right at that moment and Key just ad-libbed the part about, "they disagree with me" trying to be funny.

If I was a contributor to the NIL with some of these deals reaching 7 figures you better believe I'd be putting stipulations behind it. If these kids want to be paid, then they need to start learning the word 'incentive based' if they want to aspire to play in the NFL. You don't produce, you don't get paid. I personally despise the NIL and they way this has all transpired. I hope this whole thing falls down like a house of cards.

I hear you and agree. However, NIL is stated to be only for name, image, and likeness. It is not directly for performance, though we all know that a player's performance dictates the value of his name, image, and likeness. It's a circular argument and it's why NIL is such a sham. The minute a performance incentive is added to NIL, it completes the circle and NIL becomes pay for play... but that's what it is already, and we all know that.

Certainly the NIL is tied to 'star power' and potential of a blue chipper. Clearly those that have deep pockets, usually from the factories, are the winners...and we're the losers. If I was a billionaire, I'd be more than happy to give $100 million to start an endowment to start feeding the 'Techway' NIL lol.
