Slow Progress

So if you do post about the game it'll be the next day?

I can live with that.
Or, like yesterday, it'll be general posts after I see the score when I get back from a camping trip. I did a section of the AT and got to test out some cold weather gear. Everything worked well and I was plenty warm at 30F which bodes pretty well.

The primary problem, which has been an issue going back to CPJ and the “leaky Roof” days, is the defense. Taking the Clemson game out of the equation (As the score is an anomaly compared to the rest of the ACC schedule) in those six games Tech is averaging 31 ppg on offense while giving up 35 ppg on defense.

While complaints about the offense are valid, line play, Sims accuracy, play calling, too few touches for Gibbs, etc, 31 ppg are enough to compete for the Coastal year in and year out. The defense, as has pretty much been the case over the last several years, isn’t getting the job done.
Do you not feel that both sides of the ball are the same team? Last I checked we have defensive coaches and offensive coaches but they are all under the head coach and on the same team. The defense has been horribly bad for most of the year but the offense is right there with them. Just because Gibbs is a stud and Simms at time shows flashes of brilliance doesn’t mean the defense is losing games for us. BOTH sides are getting their öööö pushed in a lot of the time. It’s easy to argue your point when we never win, that goes both ways. If we got one more stop we would have won...if we scored on one more possession we would have won. By the way both sides getting their öööö pushed in report to the same guy.

So you'll post without actually knowing what's going on? How will that differ from now?

Our strength of record is 87. Meaning ESPN’s FPI thinks we should have a much better record than we do.

I agree we are making slow progress. We were told we were dumping mediocrity for the chance to win national titles. We are setting up for mediocrity being cause for celebration because we’ll be mediocre with NFL players.

If we lose the BC game our FPI/RPI/SAG ratings will take a hit. Currently being held up by UNC win.

I’m not sure what to expect for that game.

Everyone thinks we should have a much better record. Everyone. Even the ones those idiots call sack-cuppers™

I really appreciate all your insightful posts where you do something other than snark and personal attacks. Maybe I'll rejoice in a month or so whenever you decide to make the next one.

Cool. You finally made a positive post. There's hope for you.

Good. Leave already. Nobody gives a öööö what you were doing.

Shut up. Seriously. Shut the öööö up. You’ve been giving everyone abuse all season for telling you what you now say “Everyone thinks.”
And you have been crying like a little cuck bitch.

I have been crying because our athletes deserve to be led by professionals. Not hucksters. It saddens me to see them be forced in this position while wearing the white and gold (and navy).

It also saddens me that really dumb people lead this institutions football program and direction. They dumped what was working well enough for…whatever this is.

Our athletes were brought here by Collins and staff. Sims and Gibbs would not be here otherwise. Nor would some of our young OL who we are developing and attempting to build depth.

We weren't working "well enough" at the end of CPJ's tenure, dumbass. We were sinking further and further into being Kennesaw State

Yeah, I'm working with what the rating is now. We will see where it is at the end of season. I don't think it will be worse than #80, but we will see.

You are right that this is progress towards being a mediocre team. That's not the end goal though. Once we are a consistent mediocre team, the bar will be raised. That's a conversation for two years down the road.

This is the type of revisionist öööö that really pisses me off. WE WERE WINNING GAMES. We were only 2 seasons removed from beating UGA and winning 9 games. We were 1 botched fake punt from winning the ööööing division in CPJ’s last season.

If things were truly in that bad of shape, then CPJ should be put in the HOF like tomorrow.

This. The offense is mediocre, but that’s enough to be competitive with most teams. The defense is just bad. Like worse than the CPJ days, which is hard to fathom.
It’s hard for me to criticize the defense after watching yesterday. Time and time again they gave the offense an opportunity to lead us to victory and time after time we were let down. How many points does the defense need to score to not be blamed?

So since we were two seasons from beating UGAg, lifetime contract! Worked out great for Hewitt after he took us to the final 4!

No one said that. What I would say is that it shows what we were doing as a program was a good thing and could be continued. It was working for us in the modern college football world. From a results standpoint, what is different between CPJ and Kirk Ferentz? Do you think Iowa is going to whole sale change when he decides to retire? Do you think the next regime is going to say we need to rebuild this roster from the ground up to get where we are competitive.

Our roster was garbage in 2018 and 2019. There was no Justin Thomas in the wings to out on a Superman cape and win a ballgame for us.
