Slow Progress

Our roster was garbage in 2018 and 2019. There was no Justin Thomas in the wings to out on a Superman cape and win a ballgame for us.
Yeah because we were reloading. A concept that is used for schools that aren’t factories. We were building up to another run in 2020/2021.

Reloading with what? That öööö recruiting class we had going?

Yates would have been a good option QB, but no idea who would have blocked for him. Looked more like the end of the road than a reload. Why not stay if he thought that?

So since we were two seasons from beating UGAg, lifetime contract! Worked out great for Hewitt after he took us to the final 4!
I said nothing about a lifetime contract. PJ’s time was up. I’m just calling out the bullshit lie that we were such a bad program that 9 wins in 3 years is anything other than one of the worst stretches of coaching in GT football history.

Another lie. Our recruiting was mediocre, but it was consistently mediocre. We won 11 games in 2014 with similar recruiting.
We had a QB who took the team on his back and carried it. Without JT5, UGAg probably equals and surpasses our 8 IAR in the series.

And your point is? Good coaches find a way to let their playmakers make plays. We are not doing that. Gibbs is easily in the Top 5 most talented offensive players I have ever seen at GT. He had -10 yards in the Pitt game. He is frequently not even on the field in crucial situations.

Coaching. We’ve got a staff that is still trying to figure things out, and it shows.

I am unhappy with the results so far this year, but we have played close in more games this year than we did last year.

3-6 (or the likely 3-9) is definitely not acceptable, so we will have to continue the improvement into 2022.

I don't think anything less than 6-6 and top 50 ranking is acceptable for 2022.

The clear indication from this ratio metric is that Collins is coaching our team down.
So I agree with your subsequent post about mediocrity.
Collins is wasting about half to 2/3 of our team talent .
Even if by 5th or 10th year Collins could get us to 20th in talent,
This ratio metric shows we'd still be 30th to 40th in performance.
That isn't what he's getting paid for.

I always want Tech to win but don't think it will ever happen with this coach..

Sims stats are improving but you can see why. They do not let him even attempt deep balls or routes over the middle because of the turnovers. His percentage is up because he throws short out routes and dump passes. The last play of the game was what our coaches think of our QB. They should have just stuck with the plan to let him play thru it but instead they have restricted him and you can tell in his body language he is defeated. I’m a Sims fan and they have taken away his spirit. I had no problem with the plan to stick him in all last year and let him learn under fire. But they reversed themselves this year and now his confidence is shot. I just don’t see how he recovers from the coaches lack of belief in him.

Agree we've improved despite our record. In 2015 we lost a lot of close ones, had some bad luck, and were in much better shape than our record suggested, as proven by our 2016 bounceback. I think this year is a bit similar--we're a 5-win caliber team with 3-win results.

The problem I have with the improvement narrative though is how many talented players we stand to lose, especially on defense.

Definitely Gone:
Djimon Brooks
Tariq Carpenter
Brent Cimaglia
Kenny Cooper
Ryan Johnson
Kyric McGowan

More Likely Gone Than Not:
Ayinde Eley
Quez Jackson
Jordan Mason
Adonicas Sanders
Tre Swilling
Charlie Thomas
Juanyeh Thomas

Hope I'm wrong and guys in the latter group stick around for their bonus year.

There’s another clear indication as well. Can you figure out what it is?

Edit: if we’re 30th in performance, how many of coaches 1-29 make less money than CGC?

Let's see where it is when the season ends. This should've been a 6 win season. We will, at best, have 4. Staff isn't getting it done. It's not even worth watching the games anymore. I'll tune back in when we're a 7 win team.
We beat BC and ND, neither have QBs that can really make our secondary pay for their undisciplined mistakes like the last 3 opponents.

We beat ND & BC and give our Fans some hope going into 2022.

We had a QB who took the team on his back and carried it. Without JT5, UGAg probably equals and surpasses our 8 IAR in the series.

But Sims is better right? Why can't he and Gibbs just carry this team on their backs. I mean, if we had a crappy roster then and JT5 was the only reason we won games and beat UGA, why can't these two players that are superior do the same? (The answer: They can't, but neither could JT5. He had help on the field and on the sidelines. Hopefully, we can improve and Sims and Gibbs can have the same.)

How so we know he could handle getting hit that much?

We thought Matthew Jordan was the guy, but he kept getting injured

Our OLine is why they can't carry this Team

The prior 3 games before this one Sims was throwing deeper routes and over the middle, that's why the Announcers where asking where those missing things were.

Duh?

Just maybe that indicates that we have above par talent at the skill positions that is being held back by poor Talent in a critical area like OLine.

But the first thing you go to is your, "he's coaching them down" agenda
