Hatcher...

This blogger seems to like him (awesome blog by the way - SEC focused though)-

"3. Chris Hatcher - Georgia Southern - .862 (7 seasons)</SPAN> -</SPAN> What is it about Georgia Southern coaches? That AD must be living right.

Chris Hatcher will make the bigtime, and he will make some lucky BCS conference AD look like a freakin' genius. He's the poor man's, Division II version of Steve Spurrier...the next generation (Hatcher's in his mid 30's): In 1994 he won the Harlon Hill Trophy, awarded to the NCAA Division II National Player of the Year. After a few short stints as an assistant he returns as head coach of his Alma Mater (Valdosta State) and immediately resorts to ass kicking and name taking. He turns the program around. Hatcher goes to the championship game twice, wins it once. By the way, Look at that winning percentage!?! From what I gather, he's a highly intelligent, ex-qb that works his ass off. Did I mention he's a winner?

Now, Hatcher is taking a Georgia Southern team that former UGA assistant Brian VanGorder all but destroyed in one year (yet another example of why you don't gamble on an assistant) and quickly turning the Eagles into national contenders yet again (7-2). What else do you want? Damn. (Wiki, Profile)"

I can't argue w/ that...there are always the assistants that do work out like Richt, but there is a difference between being an assistant/cordinator and the HC, running the entire show and WINNING!

Ok Bunger, your a joke. I am not going to elaborate why, I don't have to. I said he wont and I stand by it without getting into too much info. If things change in the future I will let you know, right now I feel very confident about what I said. I'm not just making something up, I like Paul and think he is a great coach. He would definitely be someone I would want.

Back to buzzoff Bunger, don't come over here telling me I'm wrong. It is obvious you have no idea.

Hey, hey! Easy there, Demjacket. Not trying to get you all riled up. I was just saying that I think you're a little bit wrong here. That Paul Johnson would be a legitimate candidate and that you're incorrect in saying there would not be "mutual interest" (your words.) In fact, I'd say it would be "a match made in heaven." (Paul's words.)

But hey. I could be wrong. Sometimes the Bunger is. Not often. But sometimes.

:D

Hey Everybody!! Bunger was right for the second time this year!!!

Who's turn is it to polish a turd and slap it on a piece of plywood for him?

Hey, as much as I like to dog on Bunger, I think the whole board is letting Demjackets off real light on this one. Looks an awful lot to me like he led the whole board down the rabbit hole during this whole process, and had a lot of people hating on Clough, emailing Dan, and generally freaking out based on stuff that is widely being debunked.

In the end it all goes down to who you believe, but thinking back I can't really think of any time Demjackets gave us truly insider info, most of it was just projections that came true more often than not because they were obvious projections to make. 20oz Bulldog type stuff.

I'm not saying he's not an 'insider' or whatever, but I think people on this board put WAY TOO MUCH FAITH in the stuff he says, because even an insider can be talking out his ass sometimes. And I think Bunger is smart for pointing it out.

when this was posted, weeks even before the UGA game after the VT game; perhaps PJ wasn't being considered. It is completely to consider that he was brought in later in the process.

I also think before you attempt to again call someone out you consider the timing of this post, and consider the fact things change when a process begins.

If you think stuff like business deals aren't dynamic through time, then I wonder how you conduct your business. It doesn't make someone wrong, or incorrect they may have been at the time.

FYI; the money he is talking about being deposited on 11/05 when this was posted, was deposited just weeks before. No one knew that at the time on this board; outside myself, dem and maybe a couple others...

just saying you need to consider timing. This post was way before CCG was even fired.

Good point, 33.

And again, I'm not saying he's totally making **** up, just that Stingtalkers should maintain a skeptical view of what they read. This thread is an excellent example - An "insider" tells directly we can "cross PJ off our list," but won't say why, a month later PJ's our coach.

I'm not saying Dem is worthless, I'm saying we should keep a sharp eye on the actual worth of all insider rumor.

beej, I'm not going to rag on dems, either. Some might want to accuse him of having bad info, but remember......."bad info" is sometimes by design.

And sometimes the "designer(s)" only give the "model(s)" the outfits they want shown.

;-)

First rather than looking out for everyone like some democrat; you should let each poster decide what they want to believe. You don't need to do it. People here are mostly adult enough to have perspective. I think what you have done was make something an example, dem won't post here anymore, and now everyone loses the fun of hearing rumors b/c YOU wanted to try to make an example, many of which were true.

Consider the consequence. This board was better with, not without him.

anyone who is upset dem won't be posting here anymore can thank you in part...FACT

I'm not telling people to believe anything. I'm doing the opposite - telling people to not automatically believe something just because of who said it.

People here are mostly adult enough to have perspective.

I present the last week of Stingtalk internet freakoutery as counter-evidence.

I think what you have done was make something an example, dem won't post here anymore

I'm sure he's got thicker skin than that.

beej,

I think you're offbase with your assessment. If you're going to be skeptical toward demj, you should also be calling out 33j. He was the one screaming 'fiasco...if you knew what I knew'. Frankly, I think the reports we saw on StingTalk by so-called 'insiders' were very consistent with one another and even fit the facts as we thought we knew them. I had my run-ins with 33j, but his teasers were in line with the information I had, and demj was reporting.

If anyone got played, I think it was probably the boys at our hometown newspaper. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of guys. (FWIW, I don't think any of them started getting it right until Schultz started reading StingTalk.)

beej, I understand your comments, but if you understood how this whole process went down you'd know why he made that comment and why things turned around 180 degrees. He may be wrong now but he was not at the time he posted it. His information is very reliable and you are only depriving yourself if you do not believe it.

I should comment that I do not know demjackets, but I have independent sources that provide information that is completely in line up with what he posts.

33 and some others. And to Dem's credit, he came on to help debunk the extreme 'muschamp and hatcher' thing. To 33's credit, he's used the word 'rumor' pretty liberally since then.

I'm skeptical of the whole thing. Maybe they were right, maybe they weren't, but I think it's silly to get so worked up over this kind of stuff.

The last few days were pretty wild on this board -and IMO a lot of fun. I'm not concerned with who may have known what and who may have been blowing smokescreens and who may have been totally off base.

The bottom line is that we got a new head coach --and a good head coach. Also, there seems to be a buzz of excitement around the program right now --and that's a good thing.

I am looking forward to next season --and honestly, I did not feel that way with our last HC-ing hire. So I am excited.
