Tashard Choice Rumors?

No, Texas has Whataburger which is multiples better than In-N-Out.

Also overrated. The one time I had a burger from there, I couldn’t finish it - too greasy. And this from somebody who loves the Varsity. Their breakfast stuff is pretty good, though.

It’s the “you can only get it here” exclusivity combined with the “secret menu” exclusivity. It’s like a secret club.

To the exclusivity, you can get it as far east as Texas now

True. It's more about the cult surrounding it. Burgers are mediocre. Fries are terrible.

I do know that they are tearing down the Varsity in Athens which was always a pale imitation of the real thing.
I think the new one is going somewhere around the Rome Home Depot or something. Very busy areas nowadays. Just got a Texas Roadhouse that stays covered up as does the Outback across the street

The fries are fresh; but I know some folks prefer theirs from the freezer. Similar with mash potatoes; some people prefer the dehydrated/re-hydrated from powder variety over real mash potatoes. Fresh food has an odd flavor/texture to some people.

Does the Varsity II still exist? It was another poor imitation of the original; but not as shoddy as the Varsity at the airport.

Same with pasta -- for most typed I prefer dried to fresh.

I prefer french fries. Not cut up potatoes. If I wanted cut up potatoes, I would cut my own potatoes and then microwave them. That's what In-N-Out fries taste like. Microwaved fresh potatoes.

My wife loves In-N-Out and their fries. She has bad taste in pretty much everything. Including men.

No öööö. When she started hitting on me, I gave her an entire list of issues and my warning signs and even used you as a reference to my character.

As the Varsity goes. Does anyone believe the Varsity is gonna last much longer at North Avenue? That property is awfully valuable. Not sure what the long term Gordy plans are as they head into the next generation.

Reasonable. As long as you bankroll her spending, then I have no qualms.

Yeah, but still only a few in limited markets. They have some thing about building close to suppliers so their food is never frozen. (And really, Austin is just a California outpost just like south Florida is a New York outpost.)

The V has been a little sad in Covid times. Seems as though they’ve done away with carhop service, and the last time I was in there they had the whole upstairs area blocked off.

That funeral home at 10th and Spring seems like it finally sold out, wouldn’t surprise me if the V was next. IIRC, the owners resisted some kind of national historic landmark designation some years back so they could keep flexibility about what they do with the place.
