the end is near...

Main reason I'm not sure about firing him this year specifically is all the competition there's probably going to be in the coaching market.
Maybe if somehow Miami and UF don't end up firing their coaches...

Not much point in firing him if all we can afford is our fourth choice and ends up Collins 2.0

We wouldn’t be competing with anyone for notable coaches if we fire him. We’re basically hiring a really old “program stabilizer” type coach for 3-4 years or taking a big time flyer on an up comer who wants to skip being a coordinator for a shot to prove himself at a P5 level. For either hire it would be someone cheap

2022 cant be 2021 do-over.

Changing the HC isnt the only option. The other option is housecleaning. It could be hard to get good assistant coaches when the HC is on an inferno seat.

Today changed the conversation in a lot of ways. I am not sure whether it changes the danger of scaring off potential hires if we fire him, I can't pretend to know what modern cfb coaches think. But I don't think the question is whether we can afford to fire him, anymore. I think it's whether we can afford to let him stay.

I think we'd have to do that for the whole staff though. There's competition for the coordinators and assistants too.
Gonna feel real bad if we fire this staff and still end up winning 3 games a year

Southern just got Clay Helton for $800k a year. We can find someone

This had been my view before today. I believed he should, and likely would, clean house. But I can't believe that what we saw today can be the fault of bad coordinators.

I think what you mean to say is bad coordinators alone. What happened today is proof the coordinators suck. The head coach cant coach, true, but a head coach doesnt have to coach if he can hire competent coordinators.

Sorry yeah, I didn't really finish that thought. But yes, it seems apparent to me that the flaw in the program begins in the head and extends to the appendages. Before today, I'd have said let's amputate and rebuild, but I am no longer sure there's a decent chance that will help anything.

I think I’ve been trying to support this guy as much as anyone, but getting totally boat raced shows the width of the chasm. He’s just not going to be able to coach his way out of it.
Hes a ööööing clown

If you think the schtick in his press conferences are an act, then you need to check out this week’s.

It has become clear to me he has no clue why things are turning to öööö. No clue. The lack of X and O knowledge and where every one fits into the big picture are horrific for a coach at this level.

If you don’t think the players know he is full of garbage then you aren’t smart. Those players all had better coaches in high school and watch other games. They have lived thru the misery more than we have. We get to change the channel or go home but those poor players have to listen to his garbage every day all day. Of course they are going to do what the head coach asks, but by this point they know he’s full of it. I remember when my son was a senior alot of the senior players would come and hang at our house. They would laugh at the game plans and the things the coach would say. They knew it was all a show.
