the end is near...

We aren’t getting a proven P5 coach period.
The good news is a G5 up and comer will still be an upgrade over what we have now.
Hell, anything, and I mean anything would be an improvement. I am half wanting the AD to hire the Shaw triumvirate (pops, Jaybo, and Connor) and bring along Choice and Nesbitt.

And bring back D-Mo, öööö.

Or a hasbeen P5 Coach. If I’m TStan, I’d give Fuente a call.
I’m not opposed to that either or somebody like Mullen if he gets the boot. I think in the unlikely event we fire GC this season, we will have to do one of those options. Either cheap up and comer, or tainted P5 with a chip on his shoulder. We aren’t getting a Bill O’Brien or any sort of hot öööö coach. Just not happening.

I think GT is actually a cushy job for a P5. If you take us to bowls every year, it will be a decade of losing to uga before we get rid of you.

We’re not getting a G5 up and comer either. Those guys are now making enough they can be choosy with their next stop.

Chan Gailey would beg to differ.

Oh, woe is me. No one will take 3 or 4 million dollars a year to coach my football team.

Pathetic.

He got 6 years of losing to Georgia every year, and that was following O’Leary.
Following this crew and winning 7 per year would get you at least 7. Look at Dan Mullen and Fuentes record. No way GT fires either of those guys, but one is down and the other is not far behind.

GT cannot afford to fire Collins if he loses every single game 72-0 for the next 3 years. Period.

I was traveling today and couldn't watch. Sick when I saw the score. I don't want Collins and his staff one more year anymore. I appreciate his efforts here and his positivity.

Hard to see a scenario where he recovers the fan base, at this point.

56-35 keeps people's interest.

56-0 checks people out.
Dude. A lot of us took a train to the game today. That means that we were basically a captive audience through the end of the game. A ton of Tech fans left in the early second and went and sat in bars or went and tailgated with random ND fans. No one really cared that much on the train to bitch about it either. It was a lot of DGAF, where’s the alcohol?

I mean the scenario is theoretically possible. If he's here next year and he were to win 10 and beat Georgia, people would show up and be excited about Tech football and there would be articles about the journey, maybe describing Collins' contrition for not handling things better and the magnanimous Tech fans who forgave his sins.

But more likely, this is just who Collins is. In personality, a passionate but inconsiderate and defensive individual. In football, a good marketer and recruiter with poor on-field preparation and staff management. You're absolutely right about the difference between those two scores. At 56-35 we would have continued growing more impatient while for success and marked improvement. At 55-0, I think we have all stopped waiting for either of those things. Amazing what a difference 24 hours can make.
