The man doesn't sleep

He doesn't sleep because he's a tweaker. Yeah, he's out recruiting-- recruiting some pole. He's out scouting the best cruising spots across the east coast, or so was the talk at the local glory holes yesterday.

I'll delete this post in one hour.

I'm very happy with CGC and excited by his dedication to recruiting. I hope he combines great recruiting with great coaching to make us one of the elite programs in America. But, I'm also grateful for CPJ's three wins in Athens; two Orange Bowls; top ten finish; New Year's Six Bowl; ACC Championship games; multiple wins over Georgia, Clemson, VPI, FSU and others; and physically dominating offensive teams. I think CPJ recruited hard. But, if he didn't work hard at recruiting, then he must have been the greatest football coach in history, because he sure knew how to get the most out of the players that recruited themselves.

Amen.

Untrue statements? Ok, prove me wrong . I have no bias towards PJ so slow your role.
That's not how it works. You go first and prove your point. You're going to need a better argument then "you all knew this already".

Seems to me every post with a lot of support and enthusiasm for CGC is bigcried

Only the ones that end with trashing CPJ for no apparent reason.

If you look at all of the of relevant posts in the football forum, almost all of them are positive towards CCG. A poll taken of whether people think he is a good hire came in at 95% yes.

CPJ was one of the great playcallers of all time and his offense was an engineer’s wet dream. We have a lot of fans that seem to not care so much whether we win or lose but rather cared about being entertained by watching CPJ tinker with his creation. That’s probably the source of a lot of butthurt.

CGC’s strength seems to be recruiting. I highly doubt that his tenure will ever be known for masterful playcalling like CPJ’s. He may balance that out by bringing in a lot higher quality of athlete and having a system that gets it done. Remains to be seen.

As for me, I care more about winning games than I do having an offensive system that fascinates the engineers. We were starting to see more bad than good with CPJ and I truly felt like his best years were behind him this year. I hope CGC can win us some games!

an organization I was a member of would have our annual banquet the second Thursday of December. We tried a couple of times to get PJ to be the speaker. He was always out on the road recruiting at the time. (we asked Derrick Moore too but his fee was a little bit out of our range. I think his fee goes to some of the good things he does off the field.)
As he said in the post practice presser the other day, he actually enjoyed going out on in home and school visits during this period.

What worries me is the early emphasis in the press about "preparing players for the NFL." If that's just a recruiting pitch, then fine, but the last time we had a coach who wanted to turn GT into a pro team minor league, his name was Hewitt and we are still paying that guy.

I think he’s doing that because it is a wholesale branding change. Our old brand is triple option which was viewed by most as a dead end as far as nfl options. He has to find a way to get the interest of the high school players who have nfl aspirations to consider us.

What was wrong with that approach? Hewitt pulled in some serious talent and early on had success. Took us to a natty as well. Hewitt’s short coming was that he was a bad basketball coach—had no offensive game plan and insisted on his teams missing free throws and not getting balls in bounds. If we have a Hewitt type CEO for our football program who surrounds himself with competent OC and support staff, then I’m good with that.

And if so, then fine, but that kind of garbage could turn into a Hewitt thing pretty quickly.

Winning at GT requires that you come up with some way to outsmart the other 30 schools trying to be NFL farm teams.

"Yay we're a subpar NFL farm team" is not a good look. A lot of our success is going to hinge on who we get as coordinators. If they're running pro shit, might as well cancel cable and sell your tickets on stubhub.

So he is Joey Freshwater?
