So no, you didn't.

Asian population is 18.9% (if that is a big % for you/or not).

Even teams like Alabama have struggled with student attendance. Not unique to GT, but throw in 3, 3 win seasons and yeah, student support is going to be low. A rising senior at GT has had some putrid football to watch (if they cared at all).

If you combine Asian + International (which are, for all intents and purposes, ethnically the same) you get approximately a 50% Asian population at GT, which already has a small undergrad population for a P5 school. Asian-American/Indian-American kids grow up being faintly aware of college football, at best, and it is just not a thing for them beyond a passing interest while they're in school. Throw in that caring about/knowing anything about college football is largely selected against even among the white students, and it honestly starts to baffle me how the hell we have any attendance or donors at all.

I always hear that GT alumni are snobbish towards non-grad fans, but is this actually a real thing that has ever happened? I think it's cool when someone is a GT fan who didn't attend the school, there's something old-school/charming about it. It's like being a legit Boston Red Sox or Chicago Cubs fan back before they had their recent success. And it means they're probably either related to alumni or they're legit Atlanta people. I mean, I'm still a diehard fan of my family's college even though I didn't go there, and I probably have more of a connection than a lot of the actual alumni. I just don't see where non-alums are being turned off by anything other than the lack of success in sports.

Yes, in this thread.

Probably not a high percentage, but I've actually seen a good many Asian students at the games.

It might seem that way, but it's only because you have a perceptual mismatch between the concentration of Asians in the general population and the concentration of Asians in the Georgia Tech population. A handful of Asian people may stick out to you, but you have to remember that they are -literally- 50% of the student population. There's nothing wrong with that, but college football is pretty much a white people thing. I had a lot of Asian/Indian friends in school and CFB was a passing curiosity to them, it's not a 'thing' for them really. GT is just never in a million years going to have Nebraska-style fan support or whatever, we'll always be in the Duke/Stanford tier just based on demographics.

They must have given a bunch of free tix to international students for the NIU game - I spent a lot of that game explaining football (and “money down”) to some Indian dudes. I know during the CPJ era they tried some outreach “learn about football” events that sounded pretty cool to me. None of that really helps if you’re not winning, though. Winning is more fun than losing.

I had an Asian friend that I tailgated with - he was as into football as anybody. It’s not just the ethnicity, it’s the social group dynamics and stuff, too. The international students who are just here for school and never leave their international bubble aren’t ever going to be football fans.

As fans what "work" do we have to do? We don't play the games and we don't practice with the team.

For the record I'm not on Twitter so you can stow that criticism.

I'm not here to spread misery, I'm here to remind everyone of empirical reality. Clown Shoes can recruit impressively, but that's about it.

I was furious with Bark Madley when he likened Clown Shoes to Butch Jones in 2019. Now I think that's unfair to Jones.

What in the last three years makes you think anything will be any different?
Come to the ööööing game

Quit being a pompous ass. JJ is way more committed to Tech than many of the Tech alum I know. We need more sidewalk fans like him. Georgia is rich as hell because of their vast sidewalk fanbase.
(1) Committed to Georgia Tech, or committed to Georgia Tech Football? Develop the ability to distinguish between the two. The vast majority of Tech alum I know are very proud of and are committed to Georgia Tech (the educational institution). Georgia Tech (the educational institution) has an endowment of more than $2 billion. About twice that of your "rich as hell" UGA. And makes the piddly little $3-ish million CGC salary seem piddly. Many GT alums are not football fans or sports fans. Maybe/probably more than most colleges - especially in the South, where a larger percentage of Tech alums are not from and/or no longer live. So what? They support the hell out of Tech. Get your priorities right and stop bashing Tech alums.

(2) Go öööö yourself.

I used to work for a GT grad, he graduated in the early 1970's, who said he would never step foot back on campus. Some sort of PTSD thing with him and mechanical engineering.

He's ded now and GT is still around so GT 1, him 0

Absolutely ridiculous if the offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator and top six ranking coaches are not all replaced. There is nothing too radical. This is historic awfulness.

Do Collins and TS not realize that they are officially presiding over the worst football ever at Georgia Tech? That’s over 100 years of football!!!

I just got to the point where I couldn't figure out what was wrong since so much was wrong.

We did seem pretty intimidated on the OL Saturday and physically overmatched. I believe UGA played a 3/4 with 3 seniors starting on the DL, including the 350 lb monster NG. Just dealing with them created lanes for LB's. They were just physically superior. I hope as our recruiting builds depth we can equalize that.
We should have resolved that equity problem by using illegal chop blocks performed legally. The bigger they are the harder they fall.

I don't give a flying frogs ass where he went to school. Part of our problem, as GT football fans, is the looking down our nose at anyone who potentially could be a fan. GT football has the image of being snobbish little know it all nerds. Doesn't help when a snobbish know it all nerd proves any potential fans right by being a snobbish asshole.

But good for you guys. Run off the recruits we are recruiting now being idiots. Run off the fanbase. Run off everyone. None of y'all are putting up the cash to do anything because most of you whiners are cheap bastards who are happy to cry, stamp your feet, complain, and wait for OTHER people to fund your tantrum.

The rational ones know Collins isn't going anywhere untill the end of next season, at earliest, and would much rather not have to read your same, repetitive bullshit for the next 8 months.
Is this supposed to be addressed to me?

He could win a Natty next year and I will still call him an incompetant snake-oil salesman.

I can’t imagine this mindset. I have little hope for GT football next year and never liked the hire. However, if he wins a natty next year, I will wear a three-sizes-too-small “ATL” t-shirt for the whole year and permanently replace the word “three” in my vocabulary with “money down.”

WTF? How do you perform an illegal chop block legally?

It's all in the technique, and placement of the out of position referees. Come on man, it has to be timed perfectly. Kind of like forgiving the unforgivable regarding the GT coaching chopping block that occured this weekend.
