They need a new coach in Statesboro

that'd be a huge step backwards for Monken. Why debase himself going to that ööööhole?
Apparently he still lives in Georgia (I guess his main home). I thought Bohannon as a more likely option but the guy I was talking to squashed that.

Word direct from the mouth of someone connected is they are going for Monken.
Why leave a G5 gig at West Point where you are worshipped for Statesboro, GA?

Are they cray cray down there?

If Monken Leaves Army it'll be for a P5 Job, like Kansas, Syracuse, Rutgers etc as long as he promises to hire an OC that runs a real offense and doesn't play small ball

Yea. If they want a PJ/option disciple Bohannon seems like the more realistic fit.

Monken is probably set at army through retirement, unless some P5 team gets frisky and wants to go off beat with an option guy. I don’tsee that happening though.

Lunsford made 700K at Southern. Gotta figure Monken would take $2M to get him out of West Point

I would think Monken would have to be awful homesick to make that move. They should go after CPJ or some other CPJ disciple with Johnson as an advisor/OC.

Time to send out the bat signal for Paul.
I really wouldn't be surprised. IF CPJ wants back in and he said he was basically taking a break rather than done and obviously old stomping grounds so he wouldn't be facing totally fresh ground at his age. He might like the idea IF it was offered. I wonder what kind of staff he would come up with?

Monken is held in very high regard at West Point. He's made that team respectable and, most importantly, kicked Navy's ass a few years in a row now. He'd be stupid to move downwards or even laterally to some deadzone school looking to try something new. And I don't get the impression that he's stupid.

GO ARMY
BEAT NAVY

Jeff Monken literally left Georgia Southern for Army, has experienced a bunch of success, and makes about 50% more per year than the guy Georgia Southern just fired, but they think he'd want to go back? Makes no sense unless he's just dead set on returning to GA.

There's nothing he could accomplish there that he can't at Army, and it would basically be a dead end if he's interested in a higher profile job. That's not even getting into how impatient GSU fans are. They're about to be on their 7th head coach since 2006, and pretty much consider you useless if you can't replicate Paul Johnson's results within your first year.

I do know that PJ keeps in contact with GSU's AD, and as recently as last year expressed interest in returning to coaching at some point. Not sure if he would take the job, but that should be the first person they reach out to. He might be the only guy the fan base wouldn't turn on after one bad loss.

Aren't GSU and KSU on the same level? If so, why would Bohannon leave Kennesaw for Statesboro? Kennesaw having a program is already cutting into the players GSU could recruit. Seems like it would be easier to recruit at KSU nowadays.
