They need a new coach in Statesboro

Part of it is the idea that GT should run a unique offense to get around some of the issues of recruit competition.

The only time we've had true recruiting issues was when we had a system coach who was a ööööty recruiter. If Collins has accomplished a single thing so far, it's to öööö on the notion that you can't recruit to GT.

Unless you just can't be bothered with recruiting. It's why some guys are best at service academies and backwoods ööööholes where recruiting isn't important.

What you claim didn't happen. Our game was a nooner. USCe didn't start ruining the mutts' season until 7:30pm.
I am fairly certain it did or there was booing at something UGAg, because I thought "huh, they hate UGAg too

I listened to our Noon game OTW to fall break beach trip in SC with my family, who are all big USCe fans. We ate, drank, and laughed 6 hours later that night, watching Richt continue to put Todd Gurley 6 yards behind the QB on that last goal-line stand made by Spurrier's boys as they ruined another mutt season.

I think someone got the years mixed up. We also played GaSo in 2016. On that day, our game was at noon and u[sic]ga played Vandy. I'd guess everyone cheered when Vandy won the game.

They will have an interim coach for the remainder of the season, most likely. Weren't they essentially running that offense, except from the shotgun, though? I don't follow them.

They are gun/pistol but as a friend of mine who has followed Ga Southern football since the mid 90s and much more closely in recent years than I have tells me they aren't running the triple. They may call it that. But it ain't.
The interim was the coach at Stockbridge for a while. His offenses ran the triple. He had Eric Berry, the former Tennessee and KC Chiefs DB, there running that offense, I think, when he was in high school.

Most GASO students like GT way more than they like UGA.

Back in the 80s, when they announced the scores at Paulson Stadium over the PA, the receptions were thus:
Georgia Tech winning?
Cheers.
Georgia Tech losing?
Groans
Georgia losing?
Cheers
Georgia winning?
Boos.

And there are a ton of Dwags in the Boro.
But Georgia Tech has always had a good relationship, academically and institutionally, with Southern. A lot of folks did the 2/2 or 3/2 engineering program - do two at Southern and the last two at Tech and get a Tech degree. Or do the first three at Southern, last two at Tech and get a degree from both.
Plus, there is still some resentment from some old time Southern people toward Georgia on its doing what it could to prevent the BOR in granting university status (and then the floodgates opened and everybody got it) and of course, Georgia trying to hire Erk away and then lying about it.

Yeah, I think this must be it. That was Kirby's first year when they had a few hilarious losses.

How in the world KU and/or VU haven’t maxed out their accounts for Monken is beyond me.

Why is Monken held in such high esteem?

Winning at a Service Academy is totally different than winning at the P5 Level

As soon as he comes from a Service Academy, and lands at a P5 Job rival recruiters are gonna show film of Army diving at kneecaps playing small ball, and are gonna say, do you think this Guy can get you to the League?

Once that happens Recruiting will suffer or not improve, and then Vandy or whatever outpost Job he ends up at will be just as bad

Jimmies & Joes always beat Xs & Os

Anytime you want to change any entity- organization, simply find a Guy that can Recruit better talent

Service academy’s have height/weight standards. You think the Army wants 6’4 325 lb lieutenants? I’m 6’ my max weight was 203. Had a buddy in officer basic who played for Army and he said they could be overweight during the season but had 3 weeks to lose it.

Heaven forbid Vandy lose their current recruiting edge. They’re 10-47 (.175) in the SEC under Mason. 1 win in their last 17. Their Jimmies and Joe’s are desperate for some Xs and Os.

While I attended GS, I grew up a GT fan from birth since my dad lettered in football at GT. On that note, I rarely post GS related news on this board for obvious reasons.

If GS was pursing Monken, it is news to us. We would be beyond stunned if that happened. There's honestly no reason why he should. He has a job for life at West Point, GS would fire him the moment he struggles. He left GS knowing that they would be FBS shortly. So why revisit? In a similar vein, PJ isn't going to touch this with a 10 foot pole. Bohannon is a logical choice, but unlikely to happen since it didn't happen the last time we were coach hunting. As someone else on here mentioned, the AD is from the SEC and while half the fan base would like to return to the triple, the other half does not. On top of that, those that do want to return are not expecting that to happen. Overall, I believe GS coaching salary will be somewhere around 1 - 1.2 million.

Aside from that, it is awesome that GT looks like it may finally be starting to put the pieces together and winning real games. I hope it continues!

Mason got fired last year.
