This board held a near consensus ...

Looking at the other games as well, seems all defenses have suffered with the lack of practice and prep caused by covid. Probably why our defense has been bad against hurry up, we probably didn't spend what time we had preparing for it.

I noticed the same thing. Most of the time offenses are behind in early game. I expect it is lack of reps and maybe limited tackling drills.

Benson? No one even took him out of the transfer portal. Wtf are you talking about.
Braun. Yes.
Camp. No.
Harvin. Yes
Saint-Amour. Maybe.
Thomas. No.

I'm not sure about Harvin anymore. He really seems to have regressed the past year or so.

Whatever happened to Parker Braun?

Our big freshman OL will play in the NFL. He's gonna be our Nat Dorsey

After a few days to reflect, I’ve come to the conclusion that we ööööing suck. Just a really really bad football team. No need to sugar coat or make excuses. We ööööing suck. And we will continue to suck for at least the next few years.

Bring on the boo birds. Get used to it.

It'd be nice to see some progression in fewer-penalties. 15 flags is an abomination. False starts in an empty dome is embarrassing. If that öööö repeats, it's time to rethink things, as that's a basic function of any HC. And Temple wasn't some penalty-laden team so I hope he can fix that bullshit ASAP.

I suppose we should just take our lumps this year and play the QB of the future with the payoff next year and beyond but it is frustrating to know that we cant win with the turnover rate he produces. Yates, however, should not be the back up. He has no arm worth wasting second team reps on. I dont care how well he understands the offense, either Graham or Gleason should be the back up since they can actually throw the ball.

We have started building. We got a couple of good OL this past class, one starter. Sims and Gibbs are gonna be ballers. Griffin is also a good back. Need the trenches and faster CB's. We also need to upgrade LB's.

Are you watching the same punting that I am? This is more of a team stat but Harvin has been the teams MVP this year (not saying much, I know)

We've built a lot in just one year. Yards per game have gone from a pitiful 286.5 in 2019 to a hearty 454 in 2020. Turnovers are stopping us on offense and putting way too much pressure on the defense. We had 2 turnovers against FSU and won. We had 5 against UCF and Syracuse and lost both. We are much stronger on offense but mistakes are killing us. When we stop turning the ball over is when we start turning it around.

Just imagine that we've averaged 4 turnovers a game but still managed to average 454 yards offense. How many YPG would that have been with half the turnovers? Probably at least 550, near double what we got last year. And last year we only turned it over 1.7 per game. Fix the turnovers and start winning.

I generally agree. That being said, if QBs #3/4 don't know the plays as well as #2, it could make it harder for the #2's at other positions to get valuable reps.

Braun is teaching HS and coaching.

So the "best" OL we had in years (outside Mason) was still not good enough to even get a cup of coffee in the NFL.
I never understood the fascination with that guy. He was good not great. I was disappointed he snubbed us though.

I am - I thought he'd be an All American. He wasn't even best in the ACC last year. He's definitely our ST MVP, agreed lol.

The best in the ACC last year is punting for the Falcons rn... but Harvin was probably 4th or 5th best. ACC teams punt a lot, so it's a deep position in our conference.

He has a long way to go, then. He's a turnstile right now. But it's up to him how good he wants to be. I don't think anything physical will hold him back.

We are actually arguing that we have maybe 5 guys that could play for a top 25 team? Does that matter until you at least get up to 20 ot so?

Where is the stat for his dash to the end zone on that two point conversion attempt Saturday?

I have no problem with going for 2 based on our kicking woes; but whoever on our coaching staff thought that was a good play during practice? :eekfacepalm: Graham must be bored, put him in as holder and make it a kick, run, pass option.

YES. That is why people keep making the argument that none/zero of our players could make a roster anywhere else.

Why do we have our punter holding for kicks. I understand that happens in the NFL due to roster limits. We do not have those limitations.
The third string QB should be the holder. This gives you options on a fake or a bad snap. It also eliminates the possibility of losing Harvin to a fluke injury.
