When high schools 15 minutes away say they haven’t seen a Tech coach in years that’s not a money issue. When your boring ass coaching stuff doesn’t have any social media presence that’s not a money issue. When you present yourself as a gruff, out of touch, old curmudgeon in interviews that’s not a money issue.

The fact of the matter is GT could land a top 25 class without a coach ever traveling out of the city much less the state. We should be able to operate on a smaller budget than a school out in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, thats a fantastic point. There is no reason we cant recruit better cheaper than anyone else except maybe miami. I bet when miami was pulling in those 80s-90s classes they were spending remarkably little (reportable) on recruiting.

According to 30 at 30, Schnellenberger would just go to Liberty City or aome other suburb of Miami and make his presence known in the community. If he liked a recruit, he'd often go sit with the family and eat dinner with them. He'd sometimes leave his pipe "accidentally" so he could go back and retrieve it later. He had a process. Not saying that is our process, but let Collins follow his process. Sure, he could have come out butthurt about the game in the post presser, but a month from now, that is not what recruits need to see on YouTube. W
are in the midst of trying to attract recruits. We were not going to do it with our current roster. We need to be absolute to 4 and 5 star athletes that they will come to GT to play for championships. They will know that Athens, Ga is a shithole and their future is in Atlanta. A
is a destination. Just look around at the building spurt around Atlanta. Cranes surround GT. The area is transforming. We need to transform with it.
I am a lifelong GT fan. We will get there.

You do know that one of the first things Collins did was hire a social media guy with the money that TStan gave him. Let me make it plane for you, it took money to hire a social media guy.

If you think we are going to pull in top 25 classes without any coach ever traveling out of the city you have no clue.

We could have gotten a college kid to do that as an internship. Hell Johnson probably had the $50k to hire someone to do that. I doubt he would have known how to evaluate that person.

Collins is dictating the marketing of the program. Johnson simply did not have the ability to do that.

The coaches are still running their own accounts. Our previous ones didn’t and probably didn’t know how.

Collins is already making major in-roads at metro HS. You’re gonna be surprised with how that plays out.

I had several people not affiliated with High School athletics tell me they say PJ visiting local kids on many occasions. You are just repeating a false narrative.

Theres a correlation between spending and talent. If you really think gt can be top 25 in performance while getting outspent by schools like duke, you're out of your mind.

How do you think we get people out to reach kids? Do you think the head coach calls every one every day? We gotta cast a wide net and get relationships with lots of kids and that takes lots of money.

I am looking to the future. You probably missed the uptick in spending when Collins came on. But let's keep making the same mistakes with a different coach. I'm sure itll work out.

Yes. This.

Also, football spending isn’t only direct recruiting budget. You need to spend more elsewhere that helps you indirectly with recruiting. This is better facilities such as top notch weight room/coaches/nutritional staff. It’s more and better off field support staff that helps with game planning, cutting up tape, position room instruction, etc. Bama as the extreme example has former OCs/DCs/HCs while we have...former players. The off field coaches and support staff is what really drives the bus for the ultimate success down the road. We really need to get more of those guys. The wiffle ball fields and slides with ball pits make the headlines, but it’s the massive behind the scene support staff that make Clemson or Bama or UGA scary on top of really good talent.

So, when you hear Collins talk about player development, he’s talking about those guys cause it’s those guys that make Ws easier leading to the snowball effect of better future talent attracted to your program.

It’s definitely not a false narrative. It was mentioned multiple times early when Collins first started making his rounds. You’re not worth me working to dig up year old tweets, etc.

Also CPJ retired. He was done, on his own accord.

I have family that coaches in Cherokee County. He’s a Tech fan. He’s said Tech didn’t have much of a presence in the area so ya I believe it that our recruiting energy wasn’t what it needed to be.

Still though...we need more than just energy in that area if we want to get where we all want to be. That takes money.

That 48 point loss that the dwags suffered at our hands happened maybe 20 years prior to my birth, and is one of two losses that former UGA Sports Information Director, who current sportswriters call the "late great Dan McGill" has convinced or hoodwinked those same sportswriters into believing did not count. So in the last 20 years we have been on the wrong end of a 44 point and a 45 point differential. Whose narrative do you think that Atlanta and statewide media have bought into? If you don't think that what they write about us and what they say over the airwaves drive perception about our program, then you are kidding yourself.
