Re: think back

[ QUOTE ]
Chan ball is mediocre and vanilla...

[/ QUOTE ]

This is just stupid. NC State was more mediocre and far more boring on offense than us this year. They got a better bowl than we did. Stupid argument.

[ QUOTE ]
... we've been to Seattle, Boise, San Fran...and Orlando for the Champs bowl ... Yep, I blame our coach for that bc its our record that keeps putting us in these bottom feeder bowls.

[/ QUOTE ]

Equally stupid. My favorite part is blaming Chan for the Seattle Bowl, but beyond that our record this year was better than NC State's, better than UVa's, and better than Clemson's, but they got better bowls. It's idiotic to say that's Chan's fault.

This is great!

I cannot see what you wrote, but I would be willing to bet it was:

1) Sarcastic and/or childish in nature
2) Contained no facts
3) Contained no solutions

Am I right guys?

Re: think back

I wonder if that's who is really is? I don't mind discussions on what's good and what's bad about the program. I don't think Chan is a great coach and I do think our offense has to improve...and that's it's all on him to do so. But some posters (geetee, beebad before) can't see any good at all. Yes, we got screwed in the bowls this year. But we were 7-4 against a schedule that most "experts" thouht we'd be lucky to win 6 against and we had two wins as big as any O'Leary ever had. The problem with the bowl is simply the geography. No one is dumb enough to think the Music City has any more prestige than the Emerald...it's simply a desire to see the team live.

To continue the similarities to beebad, GeeTee NEVER answers a question, he never continues a conversation and he never actually tries to link cause and effect. To him it's simply...it's all Chan's fault. What a bore.

Re: think back

N.C if you think back you will see you defending every post saying anything negative about Chan
I just got back from a month in Europe and nothing here has changed
You still the same

Re: think back

Don't get me wrong, any bowl is certainly better than no bowl at all. I didn't mean to imply anything other than that.

In the spectrum of bowls though, the last 4 plus tomorrows game are crap bowls in my opinion, and I do think that Dave Braine feels that the fan base should be satisfied with any bowl.
I don't know if Braine is simply an underachiever or if he thinks the Tech fanbase is stupid. Maybe it's both.

If I felt Chan Gailey shared that thought, I would be building GeeTee a campaign platform.

FWIW, I believe that getting overly excited about post season field trip games can create complacency in our program.
While these recent games have provided a nice travel opportunity for our players, and another game for our fans to look forward to, the message has to be delivered that more is expected.
Unless Dave Braine suddenly has folks believing his low expectation speech, let the Rutgers of college football fight for yearly slots in the third tier bowls. These games are beneath what we strive for.

Perhaps you should return to godawful Europe. We'll let you know when NC has decided to support the program - or not support it - more to your liking.

I really don't get why you see it so difficult to see that some of us don't believe the program is in shambles. We had a good season this year and need to finish it up with a win.

And that is our problem. If you were a player would you rather go to Nashville or San Francisco. I've been to both and SF is 1,000,000 times better.

Re: think back

First thing, what does, [ QUOTE ]
defending every post saying anything negative about Chan

[/ QUOTE ] mean? I assume you mean defending Chan against every negative post?

But if that's all you can see you don't pay much attention. I will defend Chan or Hewitt or anyone else from posts that are clearly wrong or don't make sense. If you post WTTE, "no one can be an OC and HC and win"...I will disagree because people have done and still do it successfully. If you say WTTE, "our offense simply doesn't score enough", I will agree with you 100%.

There are real problems with the offense and ST on this year's team. I have discussed that on StingTalk and The Hive all year long. Just because we don't agree on why the problem exists doesn't mean I don't think there is one. It also doesn't mean Chan isn't responsible EVEN THOUGH HE MAY NOT PERSONALLY BE AT FAULT. He's the HC so he has to fix it.

Go back to preseason and check out some threads. I said then Chan had to win 7 games. 8 and an extension was assured. 7 probable. 6 questionable and less than that and he would be gone. I also said that's how it should be. A HC has to win to stay. I was surprised he got the extension when he did, but I think Braine's situation, probation, etc. had a lot to do with that.

Why is it everyone has to be eithe pro or anti Chan anyway? That's the problem I have with most of the nuts on this or other boards. Chan is a decent coach. He's not Dodd, but he's not a fool either. Our W-L record this year is about where it should be. We should have lost to Auburn and Miami and beaten State and UVA. In fact, based on what most "experts" were saying we should have been 5-6 or 6-5, but 7 was my prediction. So we had a decent year. Better than the last 3, but not what we want.

What will get me going is dumb posts where the font posting obviously has no clue what they're talking about or is just trolling to cause trouble. Tell me what you think is wrong with the team and we'll talk. But throw out something that doesn't make sense and I'll call you on it.

In the future please do not quote GeeTee. It filters through and I am again subject to his nonsensical ramblings. Thanks, houser1

actually that was herBee's nonsensical ramblings.

Noted. Apology goes out to herBee for confusing him with GeeTee.

if you could read, and had any interest in other

opinions besides your own, closed-minded and ignorant and often plain stupid and most definitely inflammatory opinion, you would see that what i referred to was where the "concensus" of "experts" who objectively try to analyze the strength of teams expected us to finish

did we not exceed those "predictions"? were we expected to beat Auburn and Miami on the road? NO. were we expected to beat VT? NO, if you say yes, you are WRONG. they were RANKED ABOVE US, they were EXPECTED to win. these are not MY independant opinions of what i would LIKE or EXPECT from MY TEAM, but they were the CONCENSUS EXPECTATIONS FROM 'NEUTRAL' OBSERVERS.

also, if we have worse recruiting classes (according to concensus opinion, and according to the words of Chans critics) than how are we not exceeding expectations when we beat teams with higher-ranked recruiting classes?

you are illogical at best, subversive at worst

you have nothing to add, and only complain. you blame people irrationally like a little baby that cries to mommy to make the rain stop, then blames her when she cant do it

Chan, while maintaining pretty much the same record, has done it against much tougher opposition

this is improvement, whether you are too dumb to understand that concept or not

believe me, if GT Football were here so that you and a few other idiots could feel good about themselves, it wouldnt be worth having around

maybe you should go back and try to understand the Total Person program that is GT Athletics is all about. we have a mission, sorry that you dont agree, ce la vie
