Tom Herman's next job?

Assistant Coach total salaries
Clemson - $4.3MM
Texas - $3.9MM

Clemson does not want for anything. They are building a $55MM facility exclusively for their football players-- mini golf, barber shop, movie theater, laser tag.

This is the öööö CPJ is talking about.

Interesting link. Auburn certainly isn't getting a ROI on their staff. I know Muschamp left but they are paying Kevin Steele way more than he is worth. Venables makes Clemson's number skewed a bit though. Amazing what top assistants are making these days.

If GT hired Briles, I would stop supporting the school in any way. Even Petrino was hardly the first boss to sleep with an attractive subordinate. What Briles did was on another level than Petrino or regular NCAA violations.

Yeah, Briles is a hard pass.

I bet Auburn would be willing to sniff around him a bit though.

This. They may even have a number of rapes allowed in his contract. Maybe 5 player rapes per year +1 for beating bama.

Baylor, Auburn, LSU, Houston, and TT would hire him without blinking.

TT never blinks. You miss too many plays that way.

He's also older and just didn't relish the challenge of a new position. He's done job hopping at this point in his life. He's built a sustainable monster at this point.
Yes I agree with the older, no "job hopping need anymore" as to why he's liking the Rabun life more and more.

Stay at Houston, win 9 games a year, win the league 50% of the time, win a NY6 bowl every once in a while, they rename the stadium after you and you get a statue.

Go to Texas, make like 20% more money, win 11 games and the big 12 every year or you're fired. Three national championships before you are in the statue conversation.

Would you make that move?

YES, and here's why. You make more like 50% more money, and you make sure you get a contract that's long enough they have to pay you four extra years whenever they fire you.

Then maybe if you're really lucky you win a NC or something. If not they bankroll your early retirement. It's a win win lose, with you winning if you win, you winning if you lose, and the losing in all scenarios.

It's not 50% more money, and he can negotiate a literal lifetime contract with Houston when Texas tries to take him. Would you rather be Charlie Strong or Kirk Ferentz?
